That is a nice looking gun.As you said barrel length is immaterial, in terms of ballistics,and you pick up what suits your style of shooting and what you are comfortable with.And, you have better experience than us.Care to share your experience of duck shooting with us? Have fun.

It is a Brno & not a CZ. The Brno's were made in Czech Republic till the 1990's and are not made any more, it is a scaled down sidelock (compared to the 7 pin sidelocks). The build quality is much better than the current CZ's which are made in Turkey by Huglu.
It is ZP-49 & the pad is after market.

The difference between BRNO & CZ is long and confusing but to make a long story short it can be summed up as -
There were two separate factories, Zbrojovka Brno in the town of Brno and Ceska Zbrojovka at Uhersky Brod . Both made shotguns and rifles but CZ seemed to be more into rifles and Brno more into shotguns. During the cold war and communist days, both maker's products were exported under the name "BRNO" probably because the name Brno was more recognized in the outside world (like Liege in Belgium).
With the end of cold war and fall of communism, Brno did not succeed in the transition to the new global market economy due to reasons other than its products, CZ was more successful in the new economy and continued to make rifles under the CZ name. CZ has bought the remaining assets of the old Brno factory but the shotguns are made in Turkey probably to keep the costs low.
