Spoke on that number [033-25579684 given by @syed], a 'gentleman with bengally accent' answered the phone; what I understood is:-----it will take another two more months to launch the web site and god only knows when the e-booking will start [Dadas got very little time to enter 'the mountain load of data' from those 2000 pending applications from 11 am to 4pm during their five days week paid rest programme as they are busy in goram chai khabo, pani khabo, chaval machi kabo, etc, etc... I now am seriously considering between phirangi and desi .32 revolvers.

Here is some stuff which would assist you in taking an informed decision infaour of revolver:-

"My top choice for a home defense gun is a revolver. Revolvers usually hold six cartridges, but some hold more. Revolvers are ambidextrous. Perhaps best of all, they can sit fully loaded and untouched for decades, as all springs are normally at rest, and still be ready to go into service at a moment's notice. Just grab the gun and commence firing should the need arise. Medium size revolvers, the kind I usually favor for home defense, come in two action styles, single action and double action"..........Chuck Hawk - gun writter

http://gsf.gov.in/index.php?id=60&pid=3

One has to buy the pistol and its magazine separately, these guys are simply unbelievable, aren't they ?

Pistol @ Rs.83303 /-
Magazine @ Rs.2814 /-
Total Rs. 86117 /-

Another interesting thing is that on their website, they are not calling it Ashani anymore !!

Hi,

Booking for pistol has been started on http://gsf.gov.in/ . Website has all new information about booking and now we can see the delivery reports as well.

Pistol delivery will start from 1 August . I am so frustrated my priority number is still missing from the list even after 18 months of booking. I hope i am on September delivery list.

Regards
Captain

 Dear Sirs, I have booked my pistol in march 2010 by paying DD for Rs.6000/- and in April 2011 I have paid the entire balance amount to G S F. But I was surprised that they have suspended supply of Arms coding "DUE TO SOME TECHNICAL PROBLEMS" during July-2011. I am in very much need of my weapon. What should I do. If someone may guide or may help.

Thanks!

My friends have purchased weapons from IOF and there is a 5 year ban on sale of the weapon directly purchased from them. If you purchase from an arms dealer ( although costlier) then u r at liberty to sell it at anytime and go for an upgrade. Plz check on this ban period if still in effect. Goodluck
