Doc Bhattaji,
If the threat perception is not very high, I mean it is just for enhancing your security measures, you may go in for a .25 Baby Colt or similar gun. It can be carried unnoticed. However, you should have good and frequent firing practice, so as to hit at vital spots, as and when required, given the limitations of .25ACP.
In case you are facing serious threat , go in for the .32 IOF Revolver, carry it loaded in holster but change your dressing habit. You cannot have best of both the worlds.Do practice with a few rounds immediately on getting delivery to ensure hitting the target in an emergency.

Thanks a lot goodboy_mentor sir , & indiaone sir , for your valuable opinion . Yes my threat perception is a bit high . I have decided to go for IOF .32 revolver as of now ( 5 yrs ). After that I'll see what to do . I have just 1 more question if I may ask . Is IOF .32 pistol as bad as it is made out to be out of the shelf ? Actually pistol being slimmer is easier & more comfortable to conceal . I stay in Bihar & and I'm not aware of any good gunsmith near my home town . So I don't think after market alterations are possible for me . Thanks a lot once again to you all .

You may go through the various postings made under .32 IOF revolver. You will have a fair idea of the latest products that are coming out from the production line, including photographs. After getting it from the sales outlet, normally no modification is required and it can be safely put to use.It has a high rate of ownership both in Bihar and UP and is rated as a reliable weapon.Revolvers as such are much reliable weapon than pistols and require much less servicing. You can check with the owners of such revolvers in your home town.Pay a visit to the arms section of the DM office and interview a few owners , when they come to get their arms inspected for renewal of licence.

If you search this forum you will find the individual experiences with IOF .32 pistol vary from good to bad. Also if the pistol is not double action then you will have to use another hand to first to rack the slide back before you can fire the first shot. When your response is expected in just a matter of seconds, this can be a very serious problem. There is a video on this website where a person was unable to fire the pistol within seconds and his attacker was able to shoot him dead. You can see it here viewtopic.php?f=12&t=8202

Both pistol and revolver have their own advantages and disadvantages and the debate is usually never ending. Preferences vary from person to person. For advantages of revolver you may read this viewtopic.php?f=21&t=17032&p=162079#p162047

From what I remember of the episode as reported, the fellow shot dead had an illegal firearm. Most likely a desi copy of a pistol.

Do these have a magazine follower? i.e. does the slide lock back after the last round if fired?
