Please know that the comments are not aimed at you. That one would ask five lakh for a beat-up WW-II rifle that requires a PB, if semi-auto, or converted to single-shot straight-pull is preposterous. The bigger joke would be someone may actually pay that.

I just fail to see any advantage in buying one over an IOF .30-06 and save four lakh rupees in the process. JMHO.

Some dealer in Mumbai are having good information about M1 Garland. Do come to Mumbai and have a look.

During the 60, I was able to buy a M1 Garand through the US Civilian Marksmenship Program. It cost me $25.00. Also bought an 03A3 Sringfield throught them for $15.00 and a M1 Carbine (Winchester Made) for $15.00.

Not sure of what restrictions that you have there for these rifles, but fortunately for me in New York, my National Match Garand came from the factory without a bayonet lug. So it is legal here in New York even with the 8 round loaders.

Unless though you are a Military Collector, there are many Bolt Action .30 Caliber rifles that are lighter, as accurate and much last costly.

In Mumbai there are some person who are willing to depart their own M1 Garand rifle.

Once one shoots a Garand one is hooked for life. I have used it and that goes for me too. One can participate in Big Bore Open Category with it as it has an Aperture sight adjustable both for Windage and Elevation. With little getting used to, one can acquire MQS with it. A great stepping stone for beginners. Id agree there as buying it was more feasible a few years ago since it was available in thousands then.

When I was young shooting Prone, Kneeling, Sitting and Off Hand was no issues with a rifle this weight. It is understandable that 18 year olds could hump them through the woods fighting WWII, but now, that weight is an issue for me. I still own it, still like it, but also don't shoot it very often.

In todays market 50k is more tha enough for M-1 grand .

Market price of M1 garand is 3 to 4 lacs, depending on the rifle's condition.

Your views are perfect. Same is condition at Mumbai market too. Rs 3 to 4 lac is correct prediction.

I just do not see the point of buying a Garand or what passes for it. It cannot be used a semi, which makes it PB, and the semi facility is disabled. You need to manually operate the bolt like any other bolt action rifle, which is not the most convenient operation.

Why not buy an IOF bolt action rifle which is an infinitely better option in all respects? JMHO.

hi vikram, out of curiosity, i need to know if iof 3006 is that worth, coz im planning on buying one but need to know if it is really better than its rivals(remmington blaser etc.), ofcourse price should be considered but not compromised for accuracy, reliabilty and quality of the barrel stock quality or sights are not important, kindly advise
