"Somewhat interesting" ?
Something very interesting is that the rifle is much more of a Sauer 200/202 clone than I thought - much to my amazement the bolt DOES lock directly to the barrel.

well...JP Sauer clone or no, it remains to be seen if the contraption is properly made...er..copied :)

While its heart warming that the range of civilian arms is widening, I can't help but feel skeptical about the qualitative aspect. I mean, come on, after ages of unfair and crappy business one cant expect the IOFB to have pulled up their socks over night.

I could be proven wrong- And I'll be glad if I'm wrong.

Anyway here's hoping this time we wont end up with a turkey ;)

Thanks.

HI! I talked to a local dealer here in chandigarh and the dude is all huffing and puffing at the "opportunity" sucker tells me that the govt. rate will be in the range of 50-60K but the dealers will sell at 1L+ . He was quoting intial deliveries after 3-4 months. He says that production will not be able to keep up with demand for a Loooong time and the dealers will have a good time for selling the rifles in black. BTW he quoted IOF '06 ammo at 49 bucks each.
Other members should ask dealers from there areas for their tentative scam estimates , delivery schedules etc. etc......

Son of a b**ch! Can they really get away with that?

P.S.: Have just booked mine via my arms dealer who has already placed his shops order. Now we will have to wait and see when it comes through.

Congrats to those who can buy...goo news indeed.

Guys what does this means:

"As per decision of Ministry of home affairs, government of INDIA, the sale of 30-06 sporting rifle (NPB) by RFI will be restricted to only those persons/ shooters who hold a specific license for 30-06 sporting rifle for sports and not for hunting purpose. Accordingly all arms Dealers will have to give an undertaking to RFI that they shall abide by the above condition."

Is it marked on the license copy that its for sports ot hunting. Pardon my ignorance....

It means that this rifle should only be sold (first sale atleast) to those who have applied for a rifle for target shooting purposes only and the licence should specifically be for .30 calibre. Technically speaking, those who have applied for a rifle licence giving self protection as a reason are not eligible.

No. Atleast I cannot see any such notation in mine.

in that case no one in kerala can buy ,because even if we apply for sports ,concerned people insist we put self defence in application. when i applied for one they insisted that i put self protection and that to in front of sports in my application

You want the bolt to lock in two or more locations ?
I expect it`s been done........but I can`t think of an example.
Yes, all the lugs are at the front.

Cannot think of any specific example but I thought I had read about rifles having a bolt lug/s in the front and rear.
