Post by jonahpach » Sun Nov 04, 2007 3:45 pm

Hello guys had a very eventful weekend this week.. Commandant of 54 Assam Rifles Col. Richard Blaize invited a few of us gun buffs to tryout some army small arms and what a day it was..
Will try to upload some of the videos tonight meanwhile here are a few pics

Nice photos.Kept on wondering why I could not see any photos or Jonahs posts. Then realized that I had somehow chosen to ignore his posts. For the life of me can't remember when I pressed this button :? Ah well.. no permanent damage done.BTW what is that Bushnell sticker doing on the armorers box?

I thought a good pic spoke a thousand words.. :P
Hokhay here goes..

Last week the Lunglei District Rifle Association hosted a shooting competetion in South Mizoram and Me (Secretary, Mizoram Rifle Association) and our President were invited to 'observe' the competition. Assam Rifles and the BSF were requested to 'organise' (manpower only) the competetion and their response was really good. As an additional bonus we were invited to tryout some of their small arms after the competetion.

Despite incessant rains we were able to play with their 'toys' for an entire day 10:00 am to 3:00 pm

Since I had never fired more than one type if Mil. Issue firearm at one time I was overwhelmed by the 'firepower' we hand in our hands. Will be posting a more complete "Civillians review of Mil. Arms" in a day or two.. When my bum gets better!

Its a 6 hours drive home in mountain terrain and I think my poor bum just gave up..
G'night folks!

Olly, what a folly! That's a Bren (Brno+Enfield) LMG.I too have a pic of mine with it, trying to do a Jonah albeit with a limited success.LOL.

I shot almost all the infantry smallarms and a bit more in NCC and Army Attachment with the 4 Assam Regiment. Miss the good old days.

BTW, where is Jonah in all this? Why is he keeping silent?Did he learn a lesson the hard way or was Rusty simply lying about his loquacity?

Pah!... Vikram beat me to it!

Heaven knows why NCC never interested me. Thanks for sharing though, olly.

Just love the Bren.

I guess you disliked marching and all that drill? If so, that would make two of us. It's certainly not what I want to get up on Sunday morning to do though I did envy the whole lot (college unit) when they were issued their SLRs and marched off to the range. Oh yes, we had one of those at college. The NCC used it on Sunday morning and I had free access to it during the rest of the week...without the marching and yes siring.
