I am surprised to see this. I thought Corbett buried his guns on this place in Kaladhungi when he left India. I remember reading that the guns were buried next to his dog Robin.

Mr. Nakihunter.. can you please elaborate where did you read that the guns of Jim Corbett were buried beside his dog Robin. I donot remember going through anything like this anywhere.

There is rumour that Jim buried some of his guns not in Kaladhungi but in Nainital not next to Robin but Magog. He took most of his guns to Nyeri in Kenya and they were auctioned off after his death with some of the famous man eater skins and the proceeds were donated to various charities he supported.

In his hunting stories Corbett mentions mostly 500 NE by Westley Richards.

It was .500 BPE not NE and not Westley Richards but Manton.His brother Tom had a .500 BPE Westley Richards.

because i beongs to Rudraprayag and Jim corbett shoot one Maneater Leapord in Rudraprayag in 1926.
the Exact Adress of the Hunt is the 3 KM before Rudraprayag a small village GULABRAI, there is Feild thats now comes under GOVT. in which annual sports of school and college held.at that time that Leapord was sitted at the next end of the Feild and Jim Corbett was on the Road.he shooted this Leapord by his .275 John Rigbys in MAY 1926 from Road the Distance between them was approx. 200mtr and this Leapord was buried at the same place from where it was shooted the is also a sign board with boundry of steel chains i have seen that several times this board.

Not at all . . it was shot from the top of a mango tree. Corbett waited there after tethering a goat at the base of the tree adjacent to a pilgrim house. It was shot at dead of night when the leopard charged the goat . The goat servived but not the leopard. Of course it was shot with a .275 Rigby.

Hey Guys,
From what I have been reading from my childhood about Carpetsahib in his books, of which I have read all, seems he was rather fond of his 275 Rigby rifle. In fact he mentions having missed the opportunity of shooting one of the Man eating tigers because he was trying out a brand new Westley Richard's rifle in the same caliber given on trial bases by a gun dealer friend in Calcutta. Jim wasn't used to the double pull feature of this particular rifle and hence lost precious moments causing the tiger to slip away. But yes, he did use 450/400 double quite a few times as well.
