Dear Comrades,

Are there any crash course / schools / workshops which teach moves & tactics using a knife / folder as a self defence tool in Mumbai?

Mods, sincere apologies if I misfired by posting this topic here, but actually could not find the topic discussed elsewhere. Pls let me off with a warning this time around

Thanks in anticipation!

Regards,
Shadow

i do not think that you will find this kind of school in India but saying that street school should be plenty around the docks :D

more of a chance in south east Asia or Europe/USA. bali, etc

get Fairburn book, is a good starting point.

Also send a PM to a fellow member Subal Das. He has knowledge on videos that teach knife handling. Check the knife threads on the forum, there are a few posted, if I am not wrong.

Thanks Nagarifle and m24.

I have dropped a PM to Subal.

Also am going through the threads in this section once again to see if I missed out on discussions if any.

Cheers,

if thinking of buying books etc, be careful as most are junk. stay with the classic works on the subject.

There are lots of good reads on the net and on paper (Escrima, Balisong etc). But I feel we could start meeting up and practicing to get the hang of things. We could use rubber/wooden knives for this purpose.

come to my place and i will show you what it is all about, it takes a little more the books to get some idea of what is what, best place is the docks and train stations, noting like it for hands on experience.(at your own risk) :D

hi, all, ... been busy recently

I think karambit is the best for urban defense, you cant block karambit and it is almost impossible to disarm karambit, it has fantastic speed and stealth.

you can also use karambit to control your opponents witout making much damage.

Ray Dionaldo is best from whom to learn how to use karambit.

buy 5.11 Tactical Series C.U.B. Master Knife Karambit 51006
from White Mountain Knives Ebay <[email protected]>

make a copy trainer form 6mm aluminum plate and train with some friend.

his web site

perhaps if you are successful you can even become his representative in India, as far as I know he do not have one till now.

Honestly a very simple solution go to Gurudwara and inquire about the gatka arena but remember it is not rowdy but a deeply religious affair with strict discipline you ought to be a saint to be a soldier

veer ji, gatka is not open to all and the gurdevs are mainly teaching in punjab, here they had started for sometime .
