Dear andy_65_in,

They don't have any equipment, or knowledge to identity the cal of an airgun. They know it if it's a .177 cal airgun or .22 cal by just looking at the box..and the manuals inside. During initial scanning (I am talking abt imports), the security guys easily identity that it's an air gun. It's printed on the package, rifle/pistol box, and inside the manuals. The scanner reads everything.

The security sends the package to customs warehouse, as everyone's aware that airgun is a restricted thing, and it could be imported only by rifle clubs and it's members.

Hi,

I have already shared the list of import in the previous pages. There was no custom clearence charge however the documents required by FEDEX has to be in order.

Very nice experience with FEDEX and also Customs clearence took merely 7 hrs.

Also while ordering from PA please opt for $10 test for peace of mind!

I don't think this is a good idea. People can be irresponsible, and it will be the responsibility of the person who imported the air rifle if the end user is a maniac. Not to mention - this will open the road to a lot of other illegal importing.
From what I hear, and read, it's not too difficult to get a membership. I'm tempted to ask someone to import an air rifle for me too, but I don't think it's right. If you know someone personally, and they're willing to import it for you, I don't think there should be a problem. But I don't think people should offer to import it for other users here otherwise.
I'm going to buy a Precihole Pegasus next month when it comes out, and join a rifle club :) I'll let you know how it goes, so you can join and import your rifle too :D

I have imported an air rifle six months back and it came via Delhi and Fedex cleared it with out any hassle. i guess now the port of entry is via Bangalore. i see lot of IFGians facing some anxious moments getting their guns released from Bangalore customs

i guess Bangalore customs authorities need to get used to the procedure before they can follow Delhi customs.

i was wondering if any one can advice me as to if i import a air rifle from PA, will the Bangalore customs be able to release the shipment without me personally going to Bangalore and showing all the originals or will they accept any letter of Authorisation, so my nominee can go and produce the docs and get the gun released.

please advice.

You can request FedEx 24 prior to landing about your preferred clearing port.
