How to Import Mail-Order Airsoft Guns

Hi everyone. I live in Hyderabad and I have wanted to buy an airsoft sniper rifle. Pyramidairsoft has some very nice ones. I have calculated all the costs and I feel the Airsoft UTG Type 96 Black Sniper w/Upgraded Spring is worth it. I am ready to buy it and also ready to pay the shipping costs. But I just want to know whether it will be stopped at customs? It weighs 8.5lbs and 48" in length. How much tax will i have to pay? It costs 225$ with scope and pellets. I thought of trying to get it my Check-in when coming from the US but i thought this will be safer. could someone please help??

I'm in a similar situation myself and have searched around the forums. All I can say is, that owing to recent developments, it is possible to buy and get it shipped to India via FedEx as they are the couriers with experience in shipping air and airsoft guns!

Since the gun you want to buy is mostly ABS plastic(stock, body and mag), it should be allowed through customs. Full metal guns can be a problem though as there is no way to tell whether its real or not without opening the box and examining/using it!

Since airsoft guns can be considered as toys as they dont fire any 0.177 or 0.22cal pellet ammo, you dont need membership of any rifle association in order to import one!

Lastly, you must confirm with the FedEx guys in your city whether they're aware of the recent SC orders and whether they're willing to ship it or not! (email them the copy of the SC orders so that they can update themselves!)

Airsoft guns are imitation of firearms. Please read the definition of arms and firearms in Section 2 of Arms Act 1959. They are neither arms or firearms as defined therein. Please read Section 45(c) of Arms Act 1959. Because of Section 45(c) imitation firearms are not covered under Arms Act 1959 regardless whether of plastic or metal.

Recent Delhi High Court judgement and subsequent stay by Supreme Court has nothing to do with airsoft guns as they are neither arms or firearms under Arms Act 1959.

Are there any other websites where I could go to buy the gun. Shipping all the way from US is expensive. It cost more to ship than to buy the rifle.

Been seeing all the complications people are facing over imports.. If i want to import an airsoft, Probably springer cus i dowanna buy C02 and have to keep buying the gas thingy.. Any problems? IF not, any recommendations? and a rough estimate of price if i ship from pyramydair? Lastly, springer or electric? Electric uses a AA/AAA battery for power rite?

Any updates on this? Because I contacted PyramidAirSoft and they have said that it is prohibited to get anything but .177 rifles and pistols, that includes Airsoft.

I had ordered a couple of airsoft pistols from http://www.redwolfairsoft.com . They do ship to India. Had requested them to ship the stuff as "toy gun" but they were held in customs as they were full-metal airsoft. Club membership doesnt work because as a club member you're allowed to import only .177 rifles or pistols.

I had to get police noc and they released the guns. Had to pay 35% duty as well.

BTW, cops have stopped issuing NOCs for toy gun and blank guns. It's over.

I Am Pragadeesh from chennai. I have some questions on importing AIRSOFT guns.

THE MOST MAIN THING IS THAT I AM JUST 15!

1. Am i allowed to import airsoft guns at this age?
2. What type of gun can i import (spring/electric/gas)?
3. Do i need to talk with the customs about this?
4. A suggestion on a better choice whether sping/electric/gas is better (i prefer only a durable and a affordable one)

Ask your father to to get you one.websites like pyramidair, etc only ship to customers above 15.
I dont know if aimco supplies to minors, ask others.

I read somewhere that no membership is needed. Is that true?
Are they really treated as toys?

Is it legal to Import BB Metal body gas pistol from USA ..

Have Talked to them Airsplat.com or pyramydair.com and they can send it via courier.

I want to know is it legal to import Metal body Airsoft Gas pistol or Do i need any kind of membership etc. ?

I have read many forums and discussions here regarding this topic but there seems to be no satisying answer as to Yes or No..or is there any kind of Ban on this thing.

If anyone has ordered it via courier and recieved the same without any problems then please discuss in detail as it will help many of us.
