but thanks again to Google and IFG i've rediscovered my love for the sport....

Now i need a gun desperately.... very desperately!!!

wanted to ask all you experts out there.. which is the most powerful air rifle available in india in terms of power and range?? i know i sound a bit too excited but thats how i'm feeling right now!!!

i guess IHP National is the best bet but i'm sooo in love with Diana.... i mean the air rifle..... but it cost a hell... i want a hassle free simple yet powerful airgun.....

Nash,

Welcome to IFG we have few gun enthusiasts from chennai who are members of IFG .

Regarding the indian made Air gun IHP (.177 and .22 ) are Good ,but recently i saw a Calcutta made Cannon 65 .22 caliber , the blueing, front and rearsight , trigger, cocking effort etc are better than IHP except for the matter that stock is painted with a normal paint and it has a leather seal while IHP has a Synthetic seal .

cannon is a bit heavier than the IHP.

I called the manufacturer in Calcuttal and they said that the range of the Gun is around 50~55 meters compared to IHP which is only 35~40 mts.

thanks a ton santosh...

i'm really confused ... should i go for the IHP .177 or the Amico M300 or as u suggested Cannon 65 .22 cal... I'm so in love with diana air rifles... but i've saved it for later....

is there any site where i can see pics of cannon 65?

I came across the National Air Arms air guns who claim ranges of 120 metres.... anyone has any first hand exp. with them???

for me range of the gun and ease of handling matters a lot... and to some extent looks as well...

I saw videos of FX Monsoon air rifles.... mannnn ohhhh mannn... what a gun.... jus fell in love - agian :D

whats the difference between pneumatic and break barrel air rifles... performance-wise and price-wise???

I'm a newbie ... so kindly bear with my queries and pllllsss plssss help me guyzzzz.!!!!

thanks..

kindly have a look at the this site....

http://www.nationalairarms.com/

they claim to have the longest range air rifles made in india.. around 120 M.... i really doubt it...

and i came across another site..... called

http://indiaarms.com/

The India Arms is quoting much lesser price for the for the IHP air rifles..

Have a look at it guyz... and if anyone has dealt with them kindly let us know....

Thanks...

Nash...

Please search through the forum you can find more information on these Guns

Cannon
http://indiansforguns.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=9192

Aimco M300

http://indiansforguns.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=9534

IHP
http://indiansforguns.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=8998

National Air arms is a Kerala based seller, and i dont really belive in their claim of 120 meters , even if the claim is true you need extreme precision and accuracy to hit the target at that distance , however i dont think there is any Indian Airgun thats build with such precision and stablity. and there is no use in getting one that cannot hit target at that distance .

As far as indian arms is concerned their website is not updated if you call them they will give you a different price which would be more than whats offered by Aimco or our fellow IFGian Bhanduk Bhandar please check with them about the latest price .their service very good.

hello nash
welcome to IFG. what you saw in the website of national air arms are the downloaded pictures from internet. i spoke to the proprietor over phone 4-5 months back. he is a local dealer -but active-also deals with second hand guns. for diana air guns, don't waste your time with him. he deals only with indian guns. during my conversation with him, even i asked him about the gun with 120 mtr range. he replied me its done by mistake and he would delete it from the site on that day itself. nothing happened so far.

good shoot

@ Santosh :
Thanks for the link buddy... i've already visited those post.. the problem is no one has written anything about the guns performance or accuracy...
anyways....

Just now came back visiting two gun dearlers...

The first one was Anna City Armoury in, Sydenhams Road, Periamet.... Its a small shop next to The Corporation of Chennai Bldg. They only have SDB air rifles... asked bout National rifles and pat came the reply that National rifles give lots of trouble.. spare parts are very hard to get and no likes them any more... and the guy said.. SDB rifles are much better compared to National.... The price was Rs.3300 a piece for .22 and they have only .22 rifles.... The rifle seems a bit heavy and rugged... they finish wasn't soo good... but i like the wood it was made of... anyways not a great piece but still worth considering...

Then i visited Hindustan Sports and Armoury in Sowcarpet/ Mint Street.... they got National but again only .22 cal.... tried my hand at it with a couple of shots at empty cans.. felt smooth and powerful.... finish was also quite nice compared to the SDB... asked bout the spares... they said they all kinda spares for the rifle... now the worst part... the price..... they said its Rs.6500.... i told them its a bit too much compared to what Aimco Calcutta are offering... but they said... National rifles are hard to procure and it takes a months time if we place an order blah blah blah... trippical sales man stuff... They do have few other unheard of models... like Savage, IFS etc .... but nothing worth mentioning.... and come around 4k to 5k... they also have Amico M300 @ Rs.3500 but again not good enough even for a novice like me...

So guyz... i'm kinda confused..... should i go for the National 35 .177/.22 from Aimco Calcutta and wait for around 8 to 10 days time ( my patience is running out) or go for the SDB .22 cal purely coz of its price..... or pay a premium for my impatience and buy the rifle from Hidustan Armoury for 6.5k.....

forgot to mention... got a call from Sambandam & Sons in Ellis Road, Triplicane.... they too have a few unheardoff brands.... asked for the price.... starting price is 8k (my gosh).... they casually asked for any imported models... then to my surprise they said they have a Diana.... which is my first love..... so jus out of sheer curiosity and my love for Diana... gonna pay them a visit in half an hour's time....

will come back and post my experience....

meanwhile pls give me a good suggestion guys... which gun should i buy....

thanks......

Nash,

Selecting a Gun is not an easy task, and we many not buy guns frequently ,so think twice before you go out and buy one ,

if you want to do target Practice then .177 Caliber is the best, IHP is good in this case , thats also powerfull.

But if the purpose is pest control and general Plinking which need more power go for a .22 caliber IHP/Aimco/Cannon they are the best indian model available.

More over the Armouries in Tamilnadu try to Rip you so try to avoid them, i would suggest you spend some time browsing through the various post in this Forum (IFG is a Knowledge base For Airguns) and then chose your gun.

My recomendation is to get a good indian airgun and then practice and when you are competent enough go for an imported one.
There are some good sellers out here in this forum who can help you get the right gun.

Old Chap, forget about power, power is useless if you cant hit what you aim at. Santhosh is correct, settle down for the IHP .177, brush up your skills, try improving them, then maybe a year down the line, you can go for the imported variety. In the intervening period, stick around here, read up other people's experience. By the way, the barrel of the IHP rifle is very accurate, more accurate than most others, since it is made in a swiss barrel making machine- Hammerli, who know their business.
Best Regards

Hi guys... yesterday i went to Sambandam & Co. in Ellis Road, Triplicane.

Met a guy called Sathya there....(Claims to be a National Shooting Champion)...

I asked for National rifles... but to my utter surprise that guy said... IHP doesnt make rifles anymore and the production was stopped long back... I was dumbstuck and didn't know what to say.... anyways... i knew what i was upto.... so asked for other brands...

He Showed me 3 different brands... but first i asked for the Diana Model which he claimed he had...

The gun he showed me looked quite nice on the hindsight... it had a scope mounted on it... but didn't have any logo or emblem or even a name printed on it... i was wondering whether its actually a diana.... asked for the price.... he first said 70k then said 65k.... i'll post the pics of the model.... the excitement with which i went there to see my Diana all vanished in a jiffy...

Then i asked for other brands.....they only have .22 cal models.... first he showed me a ESA Air Rifles.... priced 15K.... looked like a powerful gun... but cant really say it was any better than IHP .22.... tried a few shot inside.... indeed felt very powerful and accurate... The barrel and gauge was really superb.. and gives u a feel of balance and power....... but again.. the price!!!!

Then he showed another brand... Layon Air Rifles.... nothing worth mentioning.... looked dead as a rubber....

Then he showed me another brand.... Power Air Rifles..... it also looked powerful and balance... Priced 11.5K.... didn't feel like giving it a try....

I told him I liked ESA and asked for discount.... and after much bargaining he agreed for a Max of 10% Dis.... as i wasn't interested at the first place... i told him... i'll come tomorrow and left....

One thing is for sure when it comes to Namma Chennai...... like Santosh said.... the armouries in chennai try to rip u apart.....

anyways... i've placed an order for National .22 with Aimco Calcutta.. and have started the count down for its arrival

Just have a look at this link guyz. Its FX Monsoon Air gun... This is what i call The most powerful airgun...

Absolutely Amazing gun.... and a great video... superb picturisation..... just lovely...

@ SANTOSH & HVJ1

Yeah very true guys... i know i'm kinda gettin a bit too excited.... but such is my love for Diana my princess!!!

Anyways i've zeroed in on buying National 35 .22 cal from Aimco Calcutta and have already placed my order with them....

But i wanna show u guyz why i love diana so much.... here are the list of Diana models.. jus have a look at them and be ready to get mesmerised by its true beauty!!!! Someday hopefully I'll own one of those...Insha Allah!!

Thanks guyz.... here are the pictures....

Very true santosh.. There are so many of them.. And its really sad that its so difficult and costly to own one of those here in india...

You must be aware about our fellow IFGian called arshad who's offering so many imported models.. Do u think we can buy the imported guns offered by him?

And I got an email from gunmark puna.. they have a diana 34 premium for 34k.. Can we trust those guys?
