What a lovely blade Pa'aji and teh shape's very unusual. never seen one like this in any books, museums or collections with a flare at the choil. Looks like a Rajput blade as depiction of animals was not very common in indo persian. Can I please request for better pics. Its a very unsual and very interesting piece...

Regards
Moin.

Moin, the reason I posted it was that I myself was not known anything about it. I actually don't know anything about knives though.
The "THING" is about two feet long, and sharp on both sides, It interested me cause it has a "peacock" and "pigs" and I was told that it's from
Turkey or Arabian side but I had my doubts. Phone pics actually came small in size so I might go there second time. I seen some
similar engraving with peacocks on Rajisthan equipment but that was long time.

Thank you for posting this Pa'aji. The "Thing" far more interesting and unusal than the several"things" :D kept on the table and hanging on walls that go bang bang....

This has no Turkish, persian or Arab origin. This is definately from Western India. The Khanjar with its Pommel shape, Gold inlay work, engraving, fullers, chain mail piercing tip all point towards it. It's very difficult to ascertain the age. Could be recently made as well. A good clear picture will help. I will look up a few books to see if I find something similar. BTW was this for sale, or just a conversation piece or with some collector. Thank you again for sharing this Pa'aji.

Regards
Moin

What a beautiful work of art... Words to describe it would be an insult to its beauty.

Hammerhead,

Exquisite dagger. Lovely art work on it. Thank you for the photos.

How common is the .338 as a choice for moose?

ROTFL You can beat Jeff Cooper to death with it.

Simple .270 take down any and most North American game then we needed to have an excuse, oh polar bears are so huge, so you need a bigger gun. How many people shot or seen a polar bear in their hunting career ?

So came along Magnums and short magnums, what's the excuse. It's flat shooting, it's bla bla this, how many people shot beyond 100, 150 yard and could a hit barnside ?

Then come the guys with 375 H&H, oh it has knock down power of this and that, how many people are placing the shots at the right spot.
How many
guys shoot regular 375 in gun range and hit a 6" pie plate off hand ?

Why you need a .338, may be some day some one could find an excuse for that but today I just bought it.........
