Lubing the internal components of a spring-piston airgun

What do you recommend me for cleaning the internals of the Milbro/Diana I am restoring. Can see lot of dirt and little bit of rust inside the cylinder and on the piston and spring.... The rifle has not been cared for for a number of years. How about soaking it in petrol and then wiping it dry...may be leave it out in the sun for sometime then to make sure all the petrol evaporates...? Or do you suggest something else....

I was re-reading this post after a long time and was curious to know if the procedure mentioned by Rustam can be replicated on a leather washer or the washer needs to be a synthetic one only?
BTW what procedure would be Ideal for a leather washer setup?

For leather washers -
before installation soak the washer in 2t oil for a few hours to soften it up.
remove excess oil from the washer before installation.
after a few hundred shots if you hear squeaking when the gun is being cocked or if you feel performance has dropped then put 2 - 3 drops of 2t oil mixed with sewing machine oil in a 1:1 (oil should not be too thin or too thick) ratio into the transfer port and leave it in an upright position for a couple of hours.
do not over oil or it will 'diesel".

I have come across a spray grease made by Wurth (germany) HH2000 for the lubrication of my springer Diana. Also I will be using Wurth Brake cleaner for cleaning my barrel. Also Rust off spray is good for clearing off rust.

Wuerth lubricants are excelent. Their Rustoff is superb. For air rifles I have used their Moly Grease
