Greetings to fellow IFGians

Post by daryasarang » Thu Jun 05, 2014 8:14 pm

Namaste , I have been a member of this forum since around 6 months . Today , I take this opportunity to thank all IFGians for the helpful information provided on this forum. :D
I am from the Konkan area which is abundantly blessed by nature . Since childhood had a great interest in weapons particularly guns, probably got it in my genes from my grandfather(retired SRPF personnel) . And this forum Is like a chest full of that treasure . After doing some homework on the forum, I bought an air-rifle. And I again thank the members , w/o their advice it would have been pretty difficult exercise for an amateur as me .
I live in one of the remote area in konkan , where only a handful people own guns. My friends and Family feel that I have a very destructive mindset, only because of my love for guns. But seeing you people , it feels I m not alone ; I wish , may this forum continue to set guide stones for lost amateur souls as me ..

daryasarang,
Welcome to IFG.
Don't let other people's opinions concern you so much.
These are the same people who do not think twice about some one getting a new car, even though a lot more people are killed in car accidents (than are shot).
Remember, it is one person's opinion. Opinions are like a big toe, everyone has one.
“Never give in, never give in, never; never; never; never – in nothing, great or small, large or petty – never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense” — Winston Churchill, Oct 29, 1941

Dear daryasarang,
Welcome to IFG. Wonderful that you decided to "sail against the tide" and get that air gun. ;-) Follow your heart's desire. But first remember to follow the safety rules.... ALWAYS. Start on the hobby and hope to see you participate competitively in future. With age on your side, set a goal and then "vhallav re naavaa..." BTW, which part of Konkan are you from ? My dad's side came from Raigad and my mom's side came from Ratnagiri, though I am pretty much a thorough Mumbaikar who is trying to grow secondary root system in Thane... and I love Sindhudurg and visit Malvan-Devbaug about once/year. So you see I am pretty much "stretched out" ! Good Luck and safe shooting.

Surely Sir, I'll always keep the safety rules pinned up in my cerebral cortex .

One of my recent experiments inspired from a youtube video - an explosive reactive target made from matchstick heads:

Isn't Tala on the NH-17 where the 'phata' (branch) for Tale-Kude takes off ? Perpetual traffic jam junction. :-) Those three villages (forgot the third one) in line have Buddhist caves though not many are aware or visit, right ? My dad's side came from Chaul-Revdanda. Anyway, back to the saftey rules. Adhere to them *very strictly*. You would probably find alink posted by fantumfan about the same or get them off Lakshya site. Good Luck.
