Police requirements for arms license

Post by Biren » Wed Aug 07, 2019 4:27 pm

Hi,

I applied for 2nd weapon licence and cops have asked me following documents:

- AADHAR Card
- PAN Card
- Hasiyat Pramaan patra
- Gun licence already issued
- Medical
- Affidavit
- Two pictures

Arms training certificate exempted as i already hold one licence. Licence have been applied in the state of uttrakhand. Curious to know with arms rules same all over, what documents are asked by Cops elsewhere.

Cheers
Biren

This format is generally for the fresh Arms License application. They should already be having the info they are asking for in my opinion since you are a licensee already. Its either ignorance on their part or delaying tactics, Unless of course if your earlier license was issued in the days when Aadhar cards etc didn't exist.

PAN and praman patra is not required here in Fazilka district of Punjab. Rest of the things you have mentioned are required.

I think they have misquoted/ misprinted hasiyat ,it should be avasiya praman Patra ( certificate of residence)

For the 2nd weapon the documents required by the Arms Department were

Letter to Deputy Commissioner, Arms Department requesting for an Additional weapon
Gun Licence
Adhar Card
PAN Card & Income Tax Return
Medical Certificate
Safe Storage Certificate
Rifle Club Membership/Recommendation/ Event participation if any ( Most licences are issued in Sports Category in Kolkata nowadays)
Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) - The Deputy Commissioner of Detective Department will certify no Criminal Activities against the applicant in last 3 years
PCC is generated online with a charge of Rs. 1000/-.

If all the documents are in order the Arms Dept will forward to local Police Station and they in turn will submit documents to the Assistant Commissioner that the candidate has no criminal records. The AC will forward to the Arms Department and then the final interview to the Deputy Commissioner Arms Dept. The candidate has to convince the DC and then the latter may issue the Licence for Rifle/Shotgun . If the candidate applies for a Hand Gun the candidate will have a final interview with the Commissioner of Kolkata Police who may issue the weapon.

This is the standard process for Kolkata only and does not apply to the rest of West Bengal.

Regards
Asif
