Another wonderful weapon! The figure in that wood is quite something to behold.

Ah ha - Timmy! And I thought I was going crazy seeing images in patterns of tiles, wood, any sort of grain! Glad to know that I am not alone. :)

SteveK,

Thank you for sharing the photos. Not all old guns had plain wood.Nice gun,as every one else has pointed out already. Is a single selective trigger on a gun of this vintage common?
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their consciences.

yes the gun in question is a restock, but a very nice piece of wood indeed, bespoke is right though it is not the normal for the age of the gun, the barrels is just a work of art in itself, i could look at those for hours.

Thank you again for all your nice comments.

I have owned this gun since the early 80's, I bought it in New Zealand from the family of the original owner, I have absolutely no idea if it's a restock, I always assumed it was original but bow to those with greater knowledge!!
I have sent scans to Westley Richards asking for them to comment.

Best

Steve.

I don't think it was common, I'm led to believe it was a fairly newish invention around that time.

All the more reason to hold on it then.

I have just come off the phone to Westley Richards in Birmingham who have looked at the scans and they have no reason to believe that the gun has been restocked. That is their opinion.
Thank you all once again.
Very best
Steve.

hey steve,

i just noticed you are based in the uk.

For some reason i just assumed you were from america :stupid: .

Do tell us where you are based.
I have made some wonderful friends through IFG both british and indians.
The uk branch of IFG has quite active under vikram.
Now that he has gone, the baton has been passed on to hamiclar.
We do hope to see you.

Hi Guys, good to be amongst you all. I'm living in Surrey just outside Esher. If any of you chaps are in and around the London area, would love to meet up for a coffee and a chinwag.
