Mail Import Diana RWS 34 Meisterschutze Pro Compact

Post by anupjee1954 » Tue Apr 03, 2012 5:10 pm

I am planning to order the following air rifle through post:
Diana RWS 34 Meisterschutze Pro Compact

I have 3 questions:
1)I got my Rifle Association membership 3 days back, will that make any difference?
2)What if I want to import another air rifle, Are there any restrictions as to the number of rifles I can import?
3)A scope comes in the package unmounted, will that create a problem?

Hi Anupjee
Your planning to order air-file through post in the sense courier am i right (FEDEX).Then there wont be any issues because you are a member of Rifle club.I hope for a Rifle Association membership you can import four air rifles per year. Now the problem is you cannot import a air rifle along with the scope even it is unmounted.

Thanks

Yes you are right Fedex or UPS. Thanks for enlightening me!
Is there any other way I can get a scope? All the websites that I have tried dont ship scopes to India if they are not part of a kit. And if someone in the US tries to get a scope, theres a fine of $10000.
My other concern is - Most probably the port of entry would be Kolkata, I have a friend who imported his Diana with serious manufacturing defects, and got the same replaced through a dealer in Pune. When his replacement gun arrived in Kolkata, the customs officer seized it and hasnt released it for over a year now, he went there personally with his Rifle Association membership card and other docs but of no use. Does someone have a similar experience through Kol?

Plz don't believe the ''Men in White''.Simple you can get the scope through carry on baggage (Luggage)if any of your friends come from abroad. Now just order for a .177 air rifle.no pellets no scope through courier.Even some members have imported pellets through courier but not all the time.
Thanks

Hi Anupjee,
> Getting a good AR rated scope shouldn't pose a problem.

My friend in the US already received my ordered riflescope but after I read all those articles which say exporting scopes from US is dangerous I have asked him to return it. I dont want him to go throgh hassle.
