I have a feeling that you`re right as well.......maybe one of the big boomers like a .50 BMG cal.
Certain rifles are rear locking of course - like the SMLEs.......but you knew that anyway.
Damn - I`m going to have to find out now........Thanks a bunch !

No, definitely not a big boomer like a .50 BMG. I probably got it wrong.

You`re not thinking of the M98 and variants/clones/near copies are you because they have what is technically a third lug at the rear ?

Not the M98, I know about its rear lug. The one I think I had read about is most probably a very modern rifle and most likely from a European manufacturer. I cannot be sure but there was more than one lug at the rear.

Anyway, don't break your head over this as its not pertinent to the thread. Thanks.

The latest update is that IOF has added 30.06 in their list of civilian arms in their website.

thanks for the link danish

i saw this note :
NOTE: As per decision of Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, the sale of 30-06 Sporting Rifle (NPB) will be restricted to only those persons / shooters who hold a specific licence for 30-06 Sporting Rifle for sports and not for hunting purpose.

does this mean that its not the top renowned only who can apply for one?

I am very well aware that largely hunting is bannned unless it is a blue bull or wild boar on your own land in certain states and for protection of crops you shoot it not knowing who eats the meat while the carcass in property of the district administration ..... ......

So the .315 is sold for this and the 30-06 is not allowed for the same purpose is this the prophecy of IOF ?

ah now i follow what u are saying about the 315.
well mate i am sure u are much better position to understand the mega brain cell of the IOF.

one point i can not understand how can IOF watch over what u shoot at. Also IOF can or should not dictate how a firearms is to be used. That is government job. so if u buy direct from them, then they would not sell 3006 to u if for hunting.

but how can they be sure the purpose of the firearm? only by what is on the licence and what u say right!

If it is sold o an NP Bore RIfle licence and shipped to licenced gun shops like the .315 for sale it would be a good improvement.

A .315 retails at Rs. 55,000 odd in Bihar these days. THis one will fetch an initial premium, and later will settle close to 75,000 to 80,000

hi shahid
i would agree with u about the price of the rifle. at first every thing cost more then settles down after 6-12 months time.

and as i see it if u buy from dealers then IOF have no control as how its used. once a buyer has the rifle he can do as he wants. But i am sure that their are no law braking people buying this rifle anyway.

so lets wait and see what is the out come of IOF policy.

well what can one say, since hunting is banned, that means if ur sport happens to be hunting then its ok.

i think its a case of control freaks at work. lets ignore them and get on with the spot of hunting for 3006.

if NRAI offers to members, then i buy it for u ok :D :D of course a small commission wil be charged  :D
