Mark-IV ~ IOF Nirbheek titanium Revolver

Post by supershaji » Sun Jan 05, 2014 11:27 am

The IOF launches a Titanium Alloy revolver called the Nirbheek, as their "contribution for women safety".

Is this (Nirbheek) the much awaited "Mark-IV"?

Oh! You mean that these are two different things, this 'Nirbheek' is the "titanium alloy revolver" that was being talked about earlier, and the M-IV is something else yet to be launched?

Well, atleast we now have an addition to the "variety" from IOF.

Titanium no doubt is light weight as compared to steel. But on the flip side the light weight would mean more recoil, how this would effect the accuracy, well this needs first hand experience...

Wow, did you call then for the price of the Nirbheek?

Any idea if they are delivering them from their other 'outlets' across the country as they do with the M-III ?

Waiting period?

Wonder if the trigger is as hard as their other revolvers, to suit their women customers?

The prices are mentioned on the link above. No first hand info as such Shaji, but I do know a few arms dealers who would be having the update soon. Would update the info then. Personally I would buy a revolver only if its 357 magnum and that wont happen in India. Otherwise a pistol is good enough for me. If I had to buy the two more weapons in my license I would still buy two pistols. No revolvers, shotguns or rifles. A hazzelblad or linhoff is not of much use as you cant carry them in your pocket. The best camera is the one you can carry with you. With all the powerhouse they have revolvers are not as safe as a pistol. In our range when members bring in their own revolvers, they fire them keeping a distance on either side from other shooters. There is lead debris thrown out on either side

HI Suraj

I am sure you have shot titanium revolvers. How do they compare with the steel, particularly the smith and wesson ones.

Well i have the tried the S&W R8 did not find any difference in weight from the 686 but it had a 5in barrel and 8 round of .357 what more do you want enough to get the job done but its a bulky because of size and did not find any difference in recoil and it cost around AUD 1650. The thing is this is a great design and well made S&W and who cares if IOF has a titanium alloy revolver its a old design and shitty built quality. At least the could have done a new design like a Smith or a colt in a 3in barrel then it would be a super hit.

What's the point of making a titanium, gold or moon rock handgun? There are virtually no licenses coming in from the government. Unless they give out more licenses to women, this is just a pipe dream. BTW, who names these pieces? Nirbheek? Just couldn't find the meaning.

Katana, Nirbheek means unafraid. Nir- without. Bheek/bhaya- fear.

Though I do agree, the names can be better. I have an open place for a handgun so considering this. Wondering if it's worth the extra money.

If were in the market for it I would rather wait till some one else buys and then opt for it based on the feedback.
