Trading on IFG - How to gain access & the rules

If one doesn't agree with the pricing there is no need to buy. And if you would have noticed that these item never got sold these days . Specially air guns in .177 which are so easy to get from online stores these days. But I didn't mind paying some a little extra premium for .22 air guns which were difficult to get delivered to India.
Its easy to get a gun if you are a member of a rifle club otherwise not. And how difficult it is to get a membership nowadays, I can tell. This is the sole reason of forced to pay to pick up the imported guns.

Come on its not the most improbable task to get a membership. These days a few private clubs have come up which charge a little higher membership fee and are affiliated to to district rifle clubs. (after all its a capitalist driven world )
And in most cases if you use your mind and a good online store and a good courier company, you don't even need a club membership. Well either you put in efforts or pay the premium , Unfortunately there is no easier way out in our country

In india guns & its accessories more priced when compared to western countries due to the wrong import policy of indian government and dgft .
Consider Iof revolvers they are more than 50000inr but when compared to international standard they worth less than 100usd .
if one purchase Iof revolver for 75k new from factory and after lock period normally they sell for market price andof 1lac or above not at a depreciated price . That's applicable for every gun here ,thats what the result of poor government policy and will never change or go worse unless any change from dgft .

Fully agreed and thats why wrote before "thanks to the government import policies". Sad state but we have to live with it somehow.

By reasonable price we mean market price in India. We all know what the prevailing prices are for goods which are banned from import, we also know what the cost of importing permissible items is as well as the price they usually sell for.

While someone asking something like 15-20% more than what the items usually sells for (in India) would not attract a second look from the moderators, if someone is quoting it at many times the market price with a view to maybe:

a) artificially inflate his eventual sales price at ebay/ another website/ offline (the ad here is pointed to as being representative of what people are asking for the product elsewhere OR the item is quickly listed as sold at the asked for extortionate price which is then claimed to be the new representative market price for the item and a few weeks later the same item will be listed by another seller at similar price etc.)

b) to make another advertisement/ offer (a cartel in operation?) of the same/ similar product look much more attractive

These sort of "Shilling" operations would attract the relevant clause of the new sales rules and action would be taken. We do not intend to act as a "pricing police", however many reports have come in of unscrupulous cartels in operation who use such means to dupe people into believing that they are buying at an attractive price.

End of the day, it is up to the seller to demand what he wants for his product and for the buyer to decide whether or not to buy at that price. However, the above mentioned misuse needs to be curbed, hence this provision in the new trading rules. If the seller feels he is unable/ unwilling to offer his items close to what the current (Indian) market price is, no one is forcing him to offer it for sale here.

Since these sections are not open to commercial sellers, we do not expect many cases of such abuse but the proviso is there - just in case.

Cheers!

now for the next question :D

7- You are unable to reply to threads in any of the Classifieds sections; this includes your own threads.

does this mean that once a sale post has been posted, and a punter ask a question then i am not able to respond on the sale post?

like its locked post. only the person who posted it can edit it only?

or no one can ask a question etc on the sale post? only via pm only?

sorry for the garble just it struck me between my two halves of gray cell :D

sellers have had a lot of fun at the in IFG. Now they must wait patiently. It will be good to develop this skill necessary for hunting.

Yes, that does means that all communication will be either via PM OR if the advertiser has shared other contact details (e-mail, telephone no. etc.) the communication can be via mail/ phone etc. This is to reduce moderator workload as the majority of disagreements do happen over posts in the sales sections where we have seen multiple threads go completely OT in the past.

Yes, only the person who posted the advert can edit the post.

Also, currently under discussion amongst the moderator team is a separate "commercial trader" policy. While the modalities are still being worked out, in essence the principle behind it is that those who wish to make money off this community should help contribute towards its upkeep. Hopefully this should be ready for notification soon. This will have no bearing on regular (non-commercial) members here, who can continue to buy/ sell here for free - subject to the rules laid out in this thread.

Cheers!

All respectable forums do it so why not us. Trying to build a website i now realise firsthand the headache and the money it involves so why not get something in return?

Im quite surprised that you guys allowed freeloaders for as long as you did. Hats off to you guys.
