,318 WR Ammo

Post by marksman » Mon Sep 20, 2021 8:01 pm

A dear friend is in the need of .318 rimless Westley Richards ammo (Accelerated Express). Is it possible to obtain this from any part of India? Please advise.

If someone does mange to find them, that would be a minor miracle!

May I suggest contacting Marc at Guns & Tackle, Secunderabad?

The .318 WR was a forerunner of the popular .338 calibers. Only boutique case makers can offer headstamped ammo

I know of some one who used standard RCBS dies for .318 WR to form cases from .30-06.
Advantage was, his was made on a standard 8x57 Mauser action, which had a boltface dia of 0.473”.
If the rifle in question is an Original WR, the bolt face for the .318 ctg is 0.464” and this jugaad wont work.
Kynamco , the successor to Kynoch, may have stock/ still makes.318WR ammo. It May cost you 1-2 thousand a round, if some indian dealer CAN get it imported.

Its a classic caliber, bespoke maker.
Unfortunately, like many of its ilk, will be rusting somewhere the last 40-50 years
1.No hunting
2. No reloading
3. No ammo import.
