Hello.

Would anybody have an idea about this function at the bottom (right after the breach)? What is this?

Browning Invector BPS Special Steel 12GA - 2 3/4" and 3" Field model 28" (pump action)

What's the function of this (in the picture)? It is found under the barrel right between the pump action and the loading breech

Like the Ithaca Model 37, the BPS has no side ejection port. It loads and ejects out the bottom.
Normally on the BPS, you have to load a shell into the mag and then cycle the shell into the chamber. This is a pain when loading shells singly when shooting trap.
The selector, on trap models, allows you to choose to load a single shell directly into the chamber.

Thank you XL Target,

Had been waiting for a reply. is it a good model for trap / self defence?

Its in mint condition, how would you assess/value it price wise?

Thanks again! :)

I couldn't even begin to tell you about pricing in India. Maybe some others will chime in.

They are good shotguns, built maybe slightly better than your run of the mill Remington or Winchester pump. Maybe a little heavier than the low end shotguns.

Here is a BPS operators manual:

XL,

thanks again. The manual is definitely helpful and your opinion encouraging.

Funny that for some reason, the remington pump is more sought after here. the present owner of this shotgun actually was under the impression that what he was sold about 10 years ago by a dealer, IS a remington (as he was told)!

Anyway, am I right to think that while the magazine is loaded with 4 shells, then the switch can be turned to "S" and therefore shells can be loaded directly into the chamber (for trap maybe)?

Great shotty -- means it could cost a fortune - pump actions are at premium in Punjab may be all over India. Good luck and nice find

Cheers

thank you ngrewal,

I am quite keen on acquiring it too.

A value assessment would be helpful though.

Anyone?
