Llama .32 or CZ .32??

Post by Udhey Sidhu » Thu Feb 24, 2011 10:06 pm

Dear Forum Members,

I am looking to purchase a pistol in .32 Cal, and have been looking around for quite some time now.

I have come across a few pieces of CZ .32 and a few of Llama .32 pistols, seems like these are quite common and landed in India in large numbers. While both pistols have their advantages and disadvantages, as I hear from people because I haven't owned either of the two, I wanted to attract your views about which is a better handgun to own, primarily keeping in mind reliability, easy disassembly/assembly and repair.

Please share your suggestions, and also what price should I be paying for a well-kept pistol from both these maufacturers.

Thanks & Regards..

You're probably talking about the CZ-50 or CZ-70 (vz 50 / vz 70), which uses the .32ACP.

Both are good. As for the Llama, they are, generally speaking, a lower valued pistol made in Spain. If you know the model, you could look in wikipedia,- pistols, for a list.

Harry..

Im sorry I couldn't post the pics because it says "Forum Pic Upload capacity reached"

However, I am looking for a comparision between Llama .32 Especial ACP and the CZ .32 Model 27, while Llama looks better (cosmetically :D ) I believe the CZ is a more reliable. The Llama is an exact copy of the Colt .45 US Army standard issue which I happen to stumble upon in US, it is also handier as it is sleeker and would be a better option for carrying.

However, people who have owned a CZ Model 27 swear by its reliability and build quality, both pistols seem to have good fan-following, so that gets me confused as well..!

I would go with either of the handguns, just need to make sure I'm putting my money at the right one!

Or if it is a matter of "what feels better in my hand" as both these pistols seem to be closely matched, let me know if I should go this way..

Thanks & Regards

Man, that model 27 is ugly. I'm sure it has its fanbase, though.

I'd say, go for the Llama Especial, if you can find one.

Thanks everyone...

Harry /38 spl/Dr.Jayakumar - Llama E-special certainly is better looking..and that's what I really liked..possibly will pick it up, unless i come across a better weapon..i'm still to see a couple of more weapons..but really thanks a lot!!

Rp - I have seen a few pieces of both the models mentioned above, CZ 27 n Llama were closely matched on price. Depending on their condition, I have usually gotten quotes between 5L-5.5L, one dealer in Sirsa showed me a Llama, which was sold to him by a friend, he was quoting 8L for it, it wasn't even the Especial, I thought it was absurd as I knew the price at what he had purchased it; and the gun was also not in very good conition.

Im not sure why you are asking, but I guess you should be able to pick a good weapon between 5L-6L, have seen .32 & .380 ACP handguns. Im very interested in the .380 as well, only that we already have one in the family, but still a Berretta .380 ticks all boxes!!

Thanks & Regards

hi ,i have had a cz three years back and shot a good deal with it.it is a very reliable weapon. shoots good and handles well. not much to talk about its looks though. i have also owned a llama .32 with ventilated rib ,its a very good looking weapon and very handy too. magzine slide makes it more easy to handle . both of the weapons have their fan followings but i would opt for a llama. i own a beretta .380 right now and nothing beats it.

Cz27 is more rugged than Llama.Slide and frame have very high tempering.Barrel is of military specification. In fact it is a military specification weapon.Having owned it for many years i can swear to its reliability. My pistol never ever jammed and it happily fired all brands of ammo.Llama is any day a lesser pistol.Make sure that whenever you buy Cz 27 it should be with original bluing or whatever is left of it. Never ever buy a re blued pistol.I eventually sold it and shifted over to a six inch H & R revolver.Revolver is only hand gun which can be kept loaded indefinitely without having to worry about any spring. Moreover it can be put to use with single hand at moments notice 24 X 7.
