If they assemble in the meanwhile,I think that is fair. Even when they will manufacture, there will be limitation in terms of models. But with assembly they can offer more models.
The companies can not import parts and assemble them in India. The license given to them on Form VII of Arms Rules 2016 is only to manufacture in India.

Other rules are:-
1. The company can import machinery.
2. The company will be given seven years time to setup their factory. This time can further be extended to three years.
3. The company will be allowed to manufacture cartridges as well and not only firearms.
4. There is limit to no. of weapons and cartridges they can manufacture and sell in one year. This limit is mentioned in their license. The limit can be increased by 15% each year.
5. The company can sell their products through gun shops.
6. 'Made in India' is compulsory to be mentioned on firearms.
7. Glock can hire expert workers of IOF factory.
8. Validity of the licensee company will be lifetime.
9. Point no. 7 was a joke.
Where did you get these guidelines given to glock from?

These guidelines are not applicable only to Glock but are applicable to all private companies (JV companies) .

Guidelines are there in Arms Rules 2016.

We can say anything for sure only if we get to see their license on Form VII.

Dear All,
Any one with a decent technical back ground can understand that there is no need to import any machinery, high end CNC machines are available in India and that what it takes to make a pistol frame barrel etc, it only needs is copy right of drawings and permissions,
the time it will take is proof testing in the certified OFB premises..

Looks like CMT is not doing this over night, they seem to have been building their manufacturing site silently since Jan 2019 or for close to about 2 years now. Glock team visited in Jan 2019 itself! :cheering: :xmas:

"The Ministry of Home Affairs may, on an application containing full technical details allow import of such parts of arms and ammunition which are not possible to be manufactured locally, after obtaining the opinion of the Department of Defence Production by grant of an authorisation for such import in accordance with the procedure for import under these rules."
Quoted from Arms rules 2016. Does this mean some parts may be exempt from import ban temporarily ?

I agree. There are only two pistols on glock website which can truly be concealed. One is .45, I think it is a very powerful caliber to shoot and control and the other being .380 which has a lesser recoil and easier to aim. The .380 ammo is so expensive, the pistol after few hundred rounds of shooting will become cheaper than ammo. I think this issue of insanely expensive ammo need to addressed by the manufacturers. You make guns you better make ammo for it or do something alternative.

.45ACP is not difficult to control. Technique is all that is required and it is true even for .22LR
