Aluminum slide on a high powered pistol rounds?

Post by KDS991213 » Thu Jan 07, 2021 1:46 pm

Has anyone tried using an aluminum 7075 t6 slide with steel breech on a high powered handgun round? Something like 45 acp, 357 mag, 10mm etc? What were the results or What would be the results?

I’ve heard of direct blow back .22 pistols having al slides. But with a non blow back pistols , the locking lugs will be hammered very soon if made of aluminium. These lock lugs have to hold the frame and barrel locked, until the gas pressure from the fired rounds drops to a safe level to cycle the slide. Nope, I wouldnt want to use my teeth to catch a slide flying at several metres per second, when it lets go. 😂
