Just received info from a Webley Master dealer that Webley .32 & .45 ACP pistols are to be launched soon in India. According to the dealer prototypes of the pistols would be launched in April 2022.
Any members on this forum who own the Webley (C series) made in India revolver? Maybe they can throw some light on the performance of the made in India Webley revolver.
So nobody owns a Webley C Series revolver in this forum ? interested in the feedback. The quality of this revolver will highlight to an extent the quality of the products of the other foreign JVs which are to come, I believe...

Webley revolver is good. Trigger pull is light, barrel/ cylinder gap is minimum so there is no lead shaving throwing, empties don’t get struck inside the chambers after firing as they do in many iof revolvers. One needs to instal big grips for proper griping. Big grips are easily available.

It doesn’t fire at 90 degrees straight up. You will have to bend your at around 70 degrees. For 90 degree firing you will have to get it done from a good gunsmith.

This is honest and initial review. I don’t know how will it perform in the long run.

"It doesn’t fire at 90 degrees straight up."

That would point to excessive gap between the cylinder and the recoil shield. Shooting into the air is however something that no one should do.

Lack of competition I guess. Price may come down after the launch of Webley .45.

Besides lack of competition it was the almost negligible sale. The stupid gun prices in the market were prevalent due to lack of supply. Also people are/were willing to pay stupid sums of money because guns kept on appreciating on the backs of 0 supply and a steady increase in the number of new people who got licenses and were then in the market for firearms. So the feeling was that even if a firearm is expensive today it would, in a couple of years, increase in value and you would not lose money. That would no longer be the case in the future,

There is nothing magical about making a firearm. There is no new technology only new designs, new materials, new ways of machining parts and an improvement in metallurgy and more precise heat treatment as compared to when the guns that are floating around in the market were made. India already has a good base in manufacturing. All it required was for the government to allow the manufacture of arms by private entities. All these new entrants Malhotra Sons, Webley et all are welcome. Eventually market forces will drive prices to more reasonable levels.

We would have well made guns manufactured in the country itself in the near future. Somehow I am not enthused by the news of dealers importing guns and selling them in the local market. It is unfair to those who have put in money and effort to make guns and undermines the governments declared objective of making India Atam nirbhar.

I have seen some manufacturing licenses but don’t remember the exact quantity now. Buy the limit is in thousands and can be increased on request.

Some companies have ammo manufacturing license but no one has started ammo manufacturing yet.

These companies can only manufacture ammo, they can not import.

Thanks a lot Vineet
I also thought exactly that. After that i searched 5,6 hours and found that they can import ammo.
on MHA site there are circulars and arms rules 2016 which clearly defines they can.But they might have not applied for it
or govt didn't gave to them.this whole thing is under aatam nirbher bharat.goal is to make world class firearm in India
and export to other countries and for army use.license is for 7 years to set up plants and 3 years after that. And what
they have done is put up a cnc machine.they know it we know it license is hard to comeby in india.army is not going to buy anything
from them and no way they can export a 3rd grade cnc cut firearm it costs too much.only few parts you can make CNC not all
there were milling machines for 100s years and milling machine is much better then CNC to make parts.yet no one
used it because they know what is best way to make pistol and its not cnc or milling.

they can import ammunition and ammunition raw material, arms raw material, and part of arms which is not possible to make in india
it is easy to make ammo they should import a reloading machine rest they are free to import bullets, cases, powder and primer
I think there is still some issue with .45 ammo import.maybe in customs these still prohibited ammo and needs
license for import of prohibited ammo.yes i know its highly unlikely but afaik they don't have ammo and dont have license to buy
ammo from dealer.
kindly find it

I own Webley C Series, after going through around 150+ rounds (mix of kf, magtech, sellier & bellot) i can say that quality of the weapon is good. The front sight blade sticks up when aligned with rear iron sight so it shoots a bit up. Trick is to just align top of the front sight blade with rear sight rather than trying to align it with middle of the blade.

Since almost all private manufacturers are making a 1911 clone, this article is worth reading
