Procedure to sell Arms after death

Post by pistolprince007 » Sat Mar 18, 2023 8:28 pm

My father recently passed away and I wish to sell his arms.
Kindly guide how to proceed .
Do I need to get a legal heir certificate to apply for sell license to the licensing authority or just a simple application in a paper will do the work. The arms has been deposited in local police station and licensing authority has been informed. If legal heir certificate is required from which authority should I take Municipal Commissioner, Executive Magistrate or 1st class Magistrate.

You will need next of kin/legal heir certificate. And also NOC from all heirs which is to be notarized. I suggest visiting a arms dealer, they will guide you through the process. Ask them if they can provide a lawyer who can speed up the process. Else you can visit the concerned dealing assistant at the local dm office.

You could have claimed it under heirloom category unless you already have a licence and holding 2 weapons.
