Dear Friends,

Am planning on changing my IOF Pistol to a Walther PPK in .22. Could you please guide me on this :

i) What is the current market price of this ? a good specimen
ii) Is it a good investment specially since so many Indian weapons are being introduced ?
iii) would you rather buy something else ?
iv) Are Indian made Glocks available ? are they comparable to the ones imported ?

Thanks, appreciate your advise on this ...

Best wishes and wishing everyone a very happy new year

I owned one for many years.
Great design, easy to maintain, and accurate.
Downside is , it hates the IOF rounds. They were not consistent in rim thickness and the diameter.
Bit of a finicky feeder with IOF.
Fed everything imported - Winchester, Yellowjackets, etc without any problem.

If you practice enough for self defence, should be fine with imported ammo.

Capacity of the weapon? A .22 is always good to have. Cartridges are cheaper.

Ok just saw on net. 10 rounds for 449$. Price in India will be astronomical.

I had inquired the price of the .22 round imported is approx Rs 75 each, so not very expensive.
I do believe the .22 is more accurate and has a better range. As heard " the gun is not dangerous , it's the man holding it is " The recoil too is minimum helping the accuracy.
However still want to know if anyone can guide me the current market price of a good specimen ?

Thanks for your response, appreciate it. I have a choice to buy either a Walther PPK in .22 LR or a Colt 1911 in .32 (US Property) . The Walther is in a very very good condition with barely 50 rounds shot of it and so is the Colt. The difference in price being about Rs 1.5 lakhs with the Walther being costlier. What should I buy ?? Very confused please help...anyone

Colt 1911 in .32 ACP ? I think you meant Colt model 1903 because Colt has not made any 1911 in .32 acp caliber.
It would be a good idea to post some pictures of both these pistols and let the other members opine.
By the way beware of the “refinished” guns.

one of my friend and partner have by Walther P22 at very very high price. I have also fired a lot with it, it is a very good handgun, and very accurate, 10mag capacity, but I did not feel right spending so much money for a .22, some companies in a few days. 22 is about to be launched, the picture of the model which belongs to my friend is attached.

Actually I fired a PPK in 9mm in a firing range in the US last October. ...Was completely hooked, the accuracy and lightness of the weapon, not to mention it's sheer beauty...I just had to have one. It is after all. one of the most copied designs and has remained relatively unchanged since its inception. I agree the modern examples like the Glock, Sig and others are superior but they are more expensive. For a oldy like me , I think old is beautiful.
