Is it worth to spend 4 Lakhs on Kiehberg 1911 SC or Go for More Pistols which have all imported parts?

I need a reliable and practical weapon for daily carry. It must not have any issues. Based on local manufacturers, I’ve already seen a faulty Webley, a cracked barrel on an MSD, and a jammed Gretta. These companies survive mainly because Indians don’t use weapons much or rather, we don’t have that option.

I’m thinking about the Kiehberg 1911 SC because I’ve heard that all its parts are imported and only assembled here. However, the price is around ₹4 lakh.

Is it worth spending that much, or should I wait for another company to offer fully imported guns?

In the same boat. I would wait for M&P 45 2.0 compact to launch. That is a superior weapon but the size is not sub-compact.

If they can import parts and assemble in India then in future monst of the companies will do this. But we have only 3 months for buying weapon on new Arms license. Bit confused.

But an EDC like Astr Atal gen 2 for time being and wait for the launch. You can keep that as a second weapon. It will be a good combo of .32 and .45.

Well, if that's the case and you want a quality handgun now, go for Kiehberg 1911 SC and make it your EDC. Hope you have some experience with.45

All the best. Let us know what you finalise.

Here’s the corrected version of your text:

I found a good, clean Mehar Singh and Sons DBBL somewhere in a village in Punjab. It’s the best 12 bore, as I’ve heard. I’m waiting for a good quality, preferably imported, semi-auto 12 bore to be launched. Until then, this will be registered on my license.

As for pistols, I want to wait. if Kieghbrg can launch a fully imported weapon, I’m sure others will follow soon after. I’m really hoping for a Glock or M&P.

Google cracked barrels and you will see Glock, Smith, Beretta, CZ cracked barrels.

Please understand there are exceptions. We dont know how the weapon was treated. Sometimes other companies try do defame also. I have seen a video of gunsmith having a disassembled Taurus pistol in hand and saying that its a very low quality pistol which is completely false.

I would go with MSD Champion or Commander. At half the price of Khieberg, all steel and lifetime guarantee, its hard to beat.

No it was from our group, A very new weapon. Barrel cracked after around 50 shots.

I agreed partially on your statement, Yeah price is almost half but quality in Girsan is better but not worth 4 Lakh. That is why i am confused.

I agree with Vineet ji, a single example of a cracked barrel on a MSD is not a representative of their products. So far Malhotra's have a stellar reputation so my recommendation too would be go for it.

Thanks .

Do you have any experience with new 2025 Champion ? It had worst recoil. Heard that they reduced it by installing some spring in it.

Unfortunately not, but I have .357 magnum revolver and have fired about 20 shots off it and love it. The recoil should be similar to a .45 calibre.
But if I as a 65 old can handle it :D , you seem to be younger and should do fine. Practice is a must which ever gun or calibre you buy. Also the budget, larger calibres are more expensive
Also If you are bothered. about recoil , maybe then you should consider a lighter calibre of a .32. Buy the JD Taurus pistol and you'll thank your stars you took that decision.

I suggest that, when you are assigning values to attributes of guns, you should consider what it is worth to you to know that you can rely on the EDC gun you get. How much will you wonder, if you think that the gun has issues? If you are sure about these impressions, then the feeling is stronger.

On the other hand, if you have confidence in what you carry, and even more, if you know that confidence is justified, then what is that worth to you?

I would also ask, are you seeking and do you value other people's opinions in what you are carrying, in that when others know you carry a XXX, their opinion has value?

The point of what I am saying is that how you feel about something you are carrying does have value. Money is also an attribute, but unless you want the satisfaction of having gotten the best deal, as opposed to the best gun, there are other issues to consider, such as confidence.

Get what you want, after you have studied what it is you are going after.
