Shame shame IOF, the idiots sitting in IOF as seniors should learn the basic quality first.

Seems like the fellow fired with a bullet already stuck in the barrel.

Can someone file a PIL/RTI application against IOFs to find out the number of weapons having these problems, and incase of loss of life and/or limb what is the liability of IOF as a manufacture.I would be answering my own question by saying 1st IOF is not gonna own up to any responsibility,2nd if the same happens to anybody they are either find faults with the ammo or some kind of technical fault which absolves them of the resonsibilty.I guess when there is a 20 months waiting period for the IOF Pistol, the weapon buying public in India is amazing  where they shell out about Rs 120k for a 2nd hand IOF pistol.Baba apun to apna arms licence surrender ker de ge agar aisa waquat aa gaye ke apun ko IOF ke Pistol/Revolver khredna pade.

Unlikely. Barrel failures due to squib's tend to be a lot more dramatic.
This just seems to be bad metalurgy.

MoA,you got it right, its not just that the barrel is bad metallurgy, the bloody pitol is a piece of shit,we saw the bolt which holds the spring & barrel in place fly off along with the spring and the barrel after 2 shots on a brand new pistol.Spent a bloody hot afternoon looking for both.My friend has an orignal FN in 380 and his dad has one in 32,they got them in 1950,the pistols still work perfectly, these jokers sitting at the IOF cant even copy a bloody firearm.Reason there is no accountabilty for any govt action. :!:

A split barrel like that would indicate one of two things. Either "burnt" and very brittle steel due to faulty heat treatment; or a fold and slag inclusion in the steel bar the barrel was made from. No way to tell, though, without a metallurgical analysis and examination. If the latter, a file should readily cut the metal.
But in either case, not a good thing to happen. Cheers.

This is because of lack of competence and quality there.
IOF has a complete monopoly on production of firearms.
There is no competence, there will be no quality. For example earlier in Delhi There was a complete monopoly of MTNL in phone market.
People used to queue up in lines for taking a new phone connection but babus sitting there tend to defer or cancel their application for new phone connection. There was no competition.
But when companies likes of Airtel, Vodafone came in this market, the quality and service increased significantly. Now nobody want to take That MTNL phones because of the better quality and service being provided by other companies.
So IOF monopoly is the reason for the poor quality of firearms.
This is my say on this topic.
What about our Admin Abhijeet Sir have to say on this discussion?
Thanks.

No wonder people are willing to pay an arm and a leg for an imported weapon. Rather pay that than lose an arm and a leg when you try to use it !!!

Shameful and disgusting !!

Can anyone tell about the ammo which was being used in this case and also the year of manufacture of this pistol.

This should be an eye opener for most of us here who don't hesitate to recommend "Ashani" to a buyer who wants to spend less .

Rp.
It's always better to have a gun and not need it than need a gun and not have it !
