Go break your head then Vikram - it`s definitely not a Weatherby. Heym was closer......but not as close as Sako or Tikka.
- Yes, the clues are geographic.

Sauer?

I like the squared off bridge and jewelled bolt and the caliber.
Congrats Grumpy and I dont mind the aftershock and shepherds pie

I`ll get round to taking some proper photographs sometime and then you`ll be able to see the engraving. I`ve gone too long without a .243 - just the sweetest calibre to shoot. It`s also very versatile and effective on everything from Fox to Fallow. I think that it`s a little underpowered for Red Deer though.
No, not a Sauer - that`s just as geographically incorrect as Heym......although neither is a million miles away.
Think Scandinavia.

Another good attempt....but still not correct.
My 30-06 is a Schultz & Larsen as it happens - built on an FN Mauser action.

I know you guys are going to kick yourselves over why you didn;t think about the gunmaker now that Scandinavia has been mentioned as the region and Schulz and Larsen has been ruled out.

But that is the fun of guessing gaames like this one!

Aaah - well done Vikram. Yes, it`s a Husqvarna action. Now all you have to do is to figure out who built both the action and the rifle. That isn`t going to be easy !

I can see that, Grumpy. Any more clues? Is it a major company or an individual custom rifle maker? Still, that rifle look gorgeous.

I have no idea who made it, but its a beauty.Would love to own one.I also know that if I have to go hunting I would leave this rifle at home and take the old but still accurate rifle with the scratched stock and worn off bluing. Would just take it to the range for some fresh air and to show its capabilities from time to time

Take care,

The rifle was built by a company rather than an individual. The same company that has the Husqvarna tooling because they used to build the rifles for Husqvarna. They now build rifles under their own name but are not particularly well known as rifle makers......which means they are better known for something else.
The rifle doesn`t have square bridges - that`s just the factory `scope mount bases.
The whole of the receiver, the end of the bolt and the magazine base plate are hand engraved with small scrolls.
Rear sight is an adjustable folding leaf.

 Very good Navi. Nothing to do with Carl Gustav.....in fact, geographically speaking, another move is now required.
Sometimes I wonder about Vikram.......he reckons to be teetotal but you have to wonder when he posts a reply that contains nothing but an animated bat Smiley !
- And where did the bat come from anyway ?
BTW Vikram, Shakespeare was a playwright.
Something I`ve been wondering - how do you pronounce `Vikram` ?
As in `Vye cram` or `Vic ram` ?
