Not sure how true this is but back in Feb it was declared army has plans to acquire 70,000+ rifles:

Yep, they have started arriving in India for use by front-line infantry units.

Pity - a folding stock, pic rail and ventilated handguard with better electronic sights for the SLR were beyond the collective efforts of the bed pan mechanics at IOFB
