In the past I have posted many pics of my local gunsmith Nick Makinson working on some of my guns. Numerous times he mentioned a .600 nitro express he build for an American client. I felt that it was one of his greatest works and I could sense the joy & pride when he talked about that gun.

I have spent countless hours in his workshop as he is also a dear friend and I visit him often to hear stories of his Birmingham days before he immigrated to Canada.

The .600 NE has come up for sale and I found it a very interesting read. There are pictures and a lot of details. The price is also mentioned at the end.

Extraodinary Nick Makinson .600 Express

What beautiful work! This sort of rifle is really art, in many aspects. One thing I note are the tang extensions, from the action to the comb and pistol grip. This is testimony to the recoil of this round, Thanks for sharing this, Herb. It is truly something to behold!

Very correct Timmy, more of an art than a functional tool.

That's a beautiful gun. The only thing delicate about it is the engraving. Everything thing screams Africa.

At $200,000 it is definitely not on the inexpensive side. Guns America lists it as sold. Someone lucky got it!

Thanks for sharing, Herb.
