Grumpys` new toy.

Post by Grumpy » Tue Oct 03, 2006 10:21 pm

Well here she is ( as soon as Mehul uploads the pics for me ) - my new baby. Hand engraved action, jewelled bolt, oil finished stock. Cal .243 Win.
Her new father is very proud !
Would anyone care to put a name to the new baby ?

Grumpy,

What a beauty she is! May I suggest the name of my favourite dog, a golden brown cocker spaniel - Princess? 8)

Cheers!

Mehul,

I think he is asking you to identify the rifle not christen it.

P.S.: Is that a Sako 75?

I think that you`ll find that Mehul`s taking the mickey Mack The Knife - he knows what the rifle is.
Thanks for getting the pictures up so quickly Mehul.
No, not a Sako 75........A good guess in many ways though Mack The Knife.
You obviously don`t know about the Sako 75 - there is no way that I`d ever buy a Sako 75.....or even the rifle that Beretta have had to replace it with, the Sako 85 !

I hope somebody identifies it soon as I would like to know why it was a good guess in many ways.

Are you refering to a few (two to three) blowing up a few years back? Think it was the stainless version that had that problem???

Yup, the stainless version - and more than two or three......and not just a few years ago. One has blown up in the UK now and another in Sweden which was being shot by a 12 year old boy who sustained damage to one hand.
You`ll realise why your guess was rather good when you find out what the new rifle is.........Get your thinking cap on and start the deduction process !

It's a Tikka?

Part of the same family though so not sure if it's right.

That`s just as good a guess......Not right but pretty good. `Go with the flow` - but forget the `family` relationship.

I think I got it. It's a Heym of Germany. The bolt, bolt handle, safety, and the square bridges were the give aways.Initially I thought it's Sako, too. But, nothing in the Sako line up fits the bill.

Grumpy, that is a beautiful rifle.A class act. To top it all, she also has iron sights.Nice deer rifle would she make. Unless you intensely dislike Diana, you can christen her Princess Diana, the goddess of hunting.

Congratulations and good shooting.

"It is not a Heym", so said he. Then it is a Weatherby. The bolt is damascened and Weatherby offers this option and the bolt "shroud" etc, go together. If not, then I shall start breaking my 'ead again.
