Here you will be tried for murder or attempt to murder along with the assailants. Unless your rivals are known bad guys and were shooting at you.

It depends, there are many cases where if it is not your fault, the law lets you go, most notably the case that happened last year, a professional shooter rescued her brother from the abductors.
