This was after a firm reassurance from the cousin-"there are no venomous snakes in his part of US" he has 2 kids, 7&2 and the lawn is their favourite hangout...glad I took a chance with an un ID'd snake...Ignorance was bliss

Yeah, Even I was kind of expecting the venomous ones to be in S & SW US , ratte their tails etc,

Afraid, not too good at venomous snakes of N america...
Suggest you snap out of your project work induced hibernation,

take your pistol down to the nearest range and let off a couple of boxes of decent ammo...at least you have a gun in hand, a freedom to keep one, and a place to shoot it legally.We , licenced, law abiding gun owners have to scuttle for cover each time an anally fixated type falsettos-"you have... a GUN??!!" as though we trade in child porn...
