A golden eagle takes down a Sitka deer that weighs much more than itself -- a very powerful predator!

Awesome :D
I remember seeing a clip in NatGeo way back which showed the intelligence of the Golden Eagle....
To crack open a thigh bone probably of a deer to access the marrow within - the bird takes it high up in the air & drops it on a flat rock....
When the bone splinters it pecks at the delicious marrow :D
Wild wisdom at its best :D

That's standard behaviour for griffon vultures. They will do it with tortoises as well. Interesting that eagles are doing it too. Golden eagles are known to drag ibex and sheep off cliffs, even luring young aggressive males to where they become vulnerable. Amazing birds.
