Jonah, put me in for one too. How much, you haven't said yet.

Maybe you can etch our IFG member#s on the knife too, like "IFG #8" the number is the order in which we joined IFG and I'm sure there is a way to get that from Abhijeet. No fancy (nobody can decide) logos, just simple, "IFG #xxx" in simple font. "Understated Elegance" is the key.

Added: I just figured that if you go to Memberlist and sort on the "Joined" it gives you the sequence. So, if this is agreed, Vikram gets the IFG #1 knife and I get IFG #16 :)

Thats a nice idea if the etching is done individually.

I'd suggest mentioning the IFG Handle with the joining date to give it an authentic look..

Something like

Mohamed, IFG Patron since Jan 2008.

Or IFG Bowie Limited Edition No: XX..

Secondly, can you have the blade, powder coated in black?...
I personally dont vouch for a powder coated blade.. Once it starts coming off, the blade will look bad ...
Actually, lets not do much changes... so that the deal just happens... Dont want another IFG project to go into long wait :)

I agree, powder coating would be an additional pain, and if it comes off  . Lets keep the knife simple. If etching can be done it would be great or we could get the knife etched ourselves. We can follow the chronological order thats been suggested by other members. For that we choose our year of joining or a serial # which will have to be decided upon by the mods and the admin.

And just for the record Jonah mate, I grew a beard standing in this que. So, am up for two now  .

Great idea SirJi :)
I love the '00' prefixing the number :)
I will really envy the guy who gets the number '007' ..

But would it not be better if the etching is done in one place... so that there is more consistency?

And regarding the order of numbers.. maybe we can just keep the order of joining IFG - then Abhijeet will be 001, and so on.. So who ever orders, his joining number will be etched.. This will be damn unique and no duplication :) :)

Cant wait to lay my hands on it.. Guys, lets just freeze on this pleeease (pretty please)
... and bombard Jonah with PMs and such requesting him to go ahead :) :)

This is a commercial enterprise and I am afraid we do not wish to lend the IFG name to any commercial venture. At least not at this time.

Cheers!

Okay, :) just the joining date and the serial number then. No usage of 'IFG'.

The god man speaketh.. And too true!

Hello Abhijeet I am (maybe) making a gross profit of approx 400-600 per knife which is very dependent on the availability of scrap vehicle blade springs.

I am not able to comprehend how bulk orders will affect supply and demand of scrap blade springs. Anyway, I am open to paying Royality on any products bearing IFG name sold by me provided it is reasonable and wouldnt affect my costing and pricing in any significant manner.

Regards

Jonah

Thats a very nice gesture Jonah. The proceedings of the royalty would surely help Abhijeet keep this good work going for all of us :)

Jonah,

The quantum of profit is not the objection, it is merely whether or not we wish to lend the IFG name to a commercial product.

I'll put your proposal to the moderator team and will let you know whatever the outcome is.

Cheers!
