Hmmm.. Well I was thinking of an H-section groove cut into the frame and the blade slides into that. Should be strong enough?

But is it possible to make it with our local resources?

Here are some of my ideas:
* for a reasonable knife, I think the blade should be between 3 to 4 inches, not more. Beyond that it becomes "threatening".
* fully flat ground (may increase cost)
* good quality steel
* poll for the available designs, and select the winner design
* if possible, get an estimate of the total cost of ownership from the knife maker
- this will help decide whether you can afford it economically or not, and makes the decision easy.
* have the IFG name printed on the spine - it looks cool.

The blade material can be of STAINLESS STEEL 304 GRADE and the handle may be of abs plastic [ suvival style} with neat stampings on the blade and handle. IT WILL DEFINITETY become a collectors item .

I think the plastic handle you are referring to is the FRN (fiber reinforced nylon) that is found on many good knives.

I think a good commemorative knife should have great design along with great packaging as well. It's got to have a nice stand or display for those who like to display it. It should also be functional so those who proudly carry it can use it too. A simple design with a para wrapped handle may work great. A small certificate along with the knife would complete the package. These are my two cents.
Looking forward to this knife.

@ Subal Das ,
:agree: It would be best to go with a Chinese company . Chanced upon a a Chinese Knife mfg website plenty-harvest.com , was looking for multi tool . Minimum order was 500 for some knives and 1500 for some models. Do have a dekko.

:cheers:

instead of the design we should just ask an Indian company to make one for us like windlass etc this will also allow broader design choice please read my post and comment ...
