just got confused with the handle, so i sticked to the hidden tang,

using my temporary vice :D (the drawer) to hold the blade..

now what's left is sanding the entire blade, and giving some final finish using file (need to purchase new one as i busted 2 files already to get this design)
will be doing it tomorrow....

Good effort Marksman. Hope the file is annealed.. else being hard, will just shatter.
Some learn by reading. A few by observation. The rest of 'em have to pee on the electric fence.

Hi Marksman,
Good progress Bro!
Now get a nice wooden handle ,,,add on a finger guard....
With your skills on the roll the Spyderco FB25PSBK Warrior Combat Knife shouldn't be much of a problem,,,,
Only infinite patience while cutting the curvature is required....go slowly...don't hurry....
Good Luck!

Marksman, great start!

A small point, the tip of the blade looks to have over hardened (blue colour). Please keep the blade cool. For the tip and edge, use the grinder in 10-20 second bursts. Do not let the metal get too hot to touch.
Cheers!

Knife gurus, need help for heat treating, getting confused on youtube:cry:
I can make jugaad for the foundries but after quenching, for the tempering i dont habe oven, and if i use kitchen oven, will be shot immediately :(
Kindly give a short description for the heat treating and in which liquid i should quench, water or oil?

I may be wrong but quenching in oil leaves a water proof coloured coating on the metal, unlike quenching in water. But why do you think that tempering in a kitchen oven will leave it shot.

Marksman_dd,
Since you have used a file to start with i would suggest avoiding any further heat treat cause you may end up ruining the temper and hardness that the file already has.

If you are still keen, i guess essdee is the guy to direct the questions to. Best of luck.

:agree: Tempering and heat treatment should not be required in a blade made made out of a file, specially when it is made by grinding only.
