My New Shooting Rest

Post by Trajeev » Thu Nov 12, 2015 11:21 am

This is not a cheap Chinese stuff. Made from heavy square hollow sections in a tool room.

Thank you friends for encouraging response. Actually it happened this way. I was looking for one online & found MTM case guard at an Indian website.I called them and asked if I can have a look before buying .It was a pleasant surprise for me to see former State & National shooting Champion Mr.Abhijit Purao at my office with the box ,next morning.We used to practice at MSRA range in early 80's.. MTM Case Guard is a beautiful piece made of plastic.Perfect for high end guns. For my old Diana 35,it was not suitable. Two days later, Abhijit sent me a photo of a Gun Rest and asked me if it can be made here. I said why not? It took two days to make completely from scratch. Presently I am testing it with my old lady at my farm.

Well made. One small suggestion would be to make the central pivot also capable of rotating left-right. This way minor adjustments can be made while zeroing on the target. Just my two cents :)

@Kshitij, this one is based on the photo provided to me.The dimensions are approximate. The concept here is to provide economical yet sturdy Shooting Rest with basic features for Indian shooters. I used whatever material is available with me,just to show him that it can be made.Honestly,I have not seen such feature in any Rest except one, which is much costlier than this. I will discuss it with you once my PM gets activated.
@Jatin, I have no reservations to share the drawings with you DIY guys.Only let me freeze the dimensions first.I have observed some areas where there is scope for improvement.

Nicely designed and sturdy, the center of gravity of the rest and the gun align well.

@Rajeev,
I guess we are located pretty close to each other. Once your PM facilities start, do get in touch. I would be glad if I can help in any way.
Cheers
