Just Some Junk

Post by jonahpach » Wed Jul 07, 2010 10:21 pm

Hello Guys, I recieved some junk last week and am quite excited about it.. It used to belong to an old retired hunter (RIP) His grandson inherited it and after using up the last ten rounds available, didnt know what to do with it. I had heard about this rifle this january and had sent a message inquiring about it. Unfortunately the bore looks shotout, and the stock was accidentally burnt and too damaged to try and salvage. (Villagers have this habit of hanging their firearms above the fireplace with their stock of firewood, as this is the only moisture free area in their thatch roof homes)

Interesting.

Do tell us more.

What more can I say.. He was asking 20,000 for it and am thinking maybe 15,000/- The exterior does not have any deep pitting, all the markings are visible (after a bit of coaxing with some chemicals).. Bolt is extreemely smooth, safety is loose, firing pin backend knob cannot be removed (yet) Higher rear flip sight is chipped off, other than that, all metal parts of the rifle is intact!

Yes, it's a Winchester Model 70 (pre-64) in .375 H&H Magnum. A rifle that deserved a better fate.
