Disassembly of IOF .30-06/Sauer 202 bolt

Post by Safarigent » Sat Oct 13, 2012 9:04 pm

Gentlemen,
I have searched high and low, far and wide, to find a tutorial or video explaining how to disassemble a bolt of the said make.
Any help from esteemed members would be much appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

Dear Safarigent :
Out of sheer curiosity I want to ask the following questions:-
A] Is there any manufacturing defect in the IOF rifle bolt which has lead to misfires.
B] Did u happen to break the firing pin.
C] Is the extractor not working or broken.
D] I have heard about trigger pull adjustments but I have never come across bolt adjustments. What is it that you wish to achieve by dissembling the bolt? The standard practice to clean the bolt without dissembling it to dip it fully in the diesel for 48 hours. Thereafter take it out and liberally spray it with WD40 which will remove all Diesel remnants. Presto. your bolt is as clean as whistle,Period. In this way I have cleaned not only the bolt of my own rifle but also of that of my friends without having to go to any gunsmith.
I mean no offence to you or to any one else. It is only that I am curious to know answers to the questions that have come to my mind after reading the post. If nothing else then let there be an academic discussion.
Regards

Thank you all.
Wtp,
I wonder how i missed that youtube video!
Striker,
Thanks for the link. In the said video, he just sets up the rifle. He hasnt disassembled the bolt into its constituent parts.
Hks,
The reason i want to disassemble my bolt is that i dont trust the factory guys to have done any measurable or proficient job of coating/lubricating the innards of the bolt. I had recently disassembled my iof .22lr bolt and was glad i did. Some rust and some gunk which inspite of being in kerosene for half a day didnt dislodge. So i cleaned up everything, lubed it up and put it back together. Then i removed the stock, cleaned up everything there too and put the rifle back together. Plus, i like to know my toys better. :D
So, its the same for the .30-06 as well.
Cheers

One way could be to go to a good gunsmith and learn from him how to disassemble the IOF .30-06 bolt.
Thats how I learnt to disassemble the bolt of my Eddystone .30-06 and IOF .22 rifles.
