An excellent paper, a must read for all - men and women alike!

good one sir, aggresive confrontation coupled with confidence will definitely scare any coward rapist away.

in places like delhi were rapes are common women should be given relaxation for arms license but sadly we have people like binalakshmi nepram who would tell them to go to the law(after getting raped and losing self-confidence) or use "non-violence"

another thing that these anti-gun whacko's use to justify their motives is "this is the land of the mahatma who used satyagraha",when that mahatma was against the british arms act and was for the idea of civilians arming themselves

it sure puts the anti gun argument to an end for ever. and if you want to be raped and not fight back thats your right. but let not your right infringe the rights of others who want to fight back by whatever means.

am going wow at the findings or the research.

You want more gun control? Use both hands!

The title is a bit misleading. The only dangerous woman in the thesis was the one who was quoted as saying that gun control supersedes personal safety or something like that. It's like saying, "Buddy, I don't bloody care if you live or die, if your wife gets gang-raped, your old dad gets mugged and paralysed, your little daughter is molested....... etc., YOU MUST NOT HAVE GUNS!!!!" How come these kind of statements don't get the derision they deserve? OK, in Utopia, you won't need guns, you won't need exams either, but last time I checked the world atlas, there was no place called Utopia. I am sure these people have never gone through the experience which the lady mentioned first went through. If they had, they would be screaming for Kalashnikovs!

The California governor reminds one of our Indian species of genus politicus. Going around with security details and not allowing ordinary people to be armed!

The ancient Greeks had a nice term for them - Lotus Eaters. Except that these current-day lotus eaters are a danger to all.

And as for the Mahatma and Satyagraha argument, that worked against a "reasonably civilised" government. How long would Gandhi have lasted in Stalin's USSR or Hitler's Reich? Or even Maoist China? Gandhigiri might work for minor bribe takers. Not for rapists, murderers, killers. They need the "pre-emptive strike" option.
Cheers!
