Karnataka is to have State Elections in May 2023.
Have the rules for deposit of Licenced Arms been changed?
Does every one with a licenced are need to deposit it?

We had to deposit in Delhi in December 2022 for MCD elections.

Though the topic is old, I have a Gujarat License,
During our election we are also told to deposit arms in the respective police stations,
But I own a media house and have 2 newspapers in Rajkot City, Usually media person can write to the Commissioner of POlice for the exemption from depositing of the weapons as they have to be on field and write about sensitive topics resulting to which they can be targets and can be harmed.

I have never deposited my weapon and have always got exemption, the procedure is very easy, you write to the commissioner about the reason you need a weapon, the reason should be strong, backed by evidence and genuine for the authorities to approve it. iIn all elections commissioner approves it for me and my family members and generates a circular which says that me and family members are exempted and is authorised with a seal so if and when anyone during election checks my car or me and find weapon I can show the circular which states my license number and the exemption certificate.

As the election season has already began and ends sometime in mid 2024 (lok sabha) i request IFGians from all state file a writ (jointly) in respective states against deposit.
