Here's the time required for various materials to breakdown(biodegrade)
Cotton rags 1-5 months
Paper 2-5 months
Rope 3-14 months
Orange peels 6 months
Wool socks 1 to 5 years
Cigarette butts 1 to 12 years
Plastic coated paper milk cartons 5 years
Leather shoes 25 to 40 years
Nylon fabric 30 to 40 years
Tin cans 50 to 100 years
Aluminum cans 80 to 100 years
Plastic 6-pack holder rings 450 years
Glass bottles 1 million years
Plastic bottles Forever

Those glass bottles take forever to to breakdown. Mack The Knife, do you pack your cigarette butts and dispose them safely or are you feeding them to the fish?

Good point, Pran.

If I am on the water, I put them out in the water and drop the butts into the coracle or if I am near the bullrushes or weeds I toss them into those. Both actions are wrong. From now on they will get extinguished in the water and then get put into a plastic bag that I will bin later.

Sachhi yaar it was such a fun getaway we had no idea that we would be dining on gourmet food. Normally we chew some horrible jerky that I carry...recently though these packs have been returned to me by silently suffering members.

   We cleaned all the plastic off but the glass bottles or remains of such splintered and cracked and lodged inside the stone cracks on the surface. Needless to say we shall be even more vigilant and thanks for pointing this out.

It never occurred to me that you might consider throwing in Mickey as bait.......After all Pike will take Voles swimming on the surface so why shouldn`t a catfish take a Mouse.......especially one flavoured with Tiger Prawn.
You`ll have to try it on your next fishing trip - who knows, you might catch a real monster ( or a Crocodile. ) !

And Mickey, with those huge ears you won`t need water `wings` - just flap yor ears in the water and you`ll swim around nicely..........whilst attracting every major predator in the lake/river.
