Agreed , but that particular Rohu shouldn't have been released ! Big red one,
just perfect to go alongwith ..(whatever you fancy) after being fried. :D

Next time keep the first one for table and release the subsequent catches ( guess you have figured that out already ) :)

Sujay,

Can you or even four adults finish 18.5 lbs of rohu at one sitting?

There is no refrigeration at the cottage and neither did we take the ice box along. Be a shame to kill such a fish when you can pick up a murral for the table. To give you an idea there were still four pieces left of the 2 to 2.5 kg murral after four adults and my sons had tucked in.

I for one am happy it was released.

Sujay, I also think that you did right by releasing that beautiful fish - back in the water it`ll grow even bigger with the chance that it might be caught again one day.
Congratulations on the catch anyway - what a cracker !

Gawd , what a monster Mack The Knife,
Pass on my congrats and thanks to Pratap for the pleasure of seeing these monsters on the net, almost in real time.
Sujay, I was hoping that the first rohu wasnt coming on the table-too beautiful to kill, better that its gene's spread to help proliferate our sadly depleted lakes/rivers?
Naw, have shed more than my share of blood-but the thrill of releasing is something else!
I first experienced it when releasing a very sleek,14 foot lady king cobra into a rivulet, after 2 days of captive photography... she swam out so regally and disdainful of the watching crowd.Unreal.had a similar feeling of deja vu when Pratap released the first catch.
Mack The Knife, looks like the buggers were waiting for us to go, eh? mahseer, right there at our door step
I'm coming back...

Prathap spotted what could be a 40lb mahseer in the outflow channel. We are going back this weekend.

I just cracked the code, you guys are too clever...all that catch and release has created a school of fish who just jump into your arms

Just wait till I catch the next gunny bag.

Asif,

Believe me I was not aware of the code of releasing the captured fish till this thread ; more so that a fish can be revived even after it is taken out of water ! Since the Rohu was particularly beautiful and all of Mack The Knife's post suggested that till late in the day, they didn't catch any more I was a bit puzzled.

Gr888.. :)

I just wanted to know because I also have the same Fishing rod as yours.

Just wanted to hear our expert Mr. Bana's Opinion about that. Somebody on IA also wanted a review of that rod.
