Is license for nsp weapon required by serving army officer

I have been allotted a NSP .38 pistol by MGO. Is it mandatory for an army officer to possess a valid arms license inorder to acquire, keep and carry a nsp weapon while in service. If not then under what sections of the arms act? Pls help

Captain and above, while still serving are exempt for 2 handguns, for any Rifle and SG need license(easy to get on recommendation of CO). On retirement handgun exemption status is lost and need license, apply before retiring when it will be granted easily.

Even i have been alloted a .38 ... And it is not a PB... Just get a normal licence... Check out MHA wesite for PB weapons... And u are never alloted PB in NSP catregory

If it is the .380 ACP, i.e., pistol cartridge, then not a PB. Which specific .38 is your handgun chambered for?

Thanks for the response. Has anyone travelled with a NSP wpn by train or flight? What documents and procedures are required??

Vikram... I still havent collected it...just got the letter... Most of them have got a ACP... Waiting to find out myself

Dear Sirs,
Yes,license for NSP weapon is must as you leave your unit.
You apply to the DM of your hometown with the allotment letter and I don't see any problem you getting an all india license.
