Not knowing how Myth Busters proceeded, I'll have to guess that their scopes weren't mounted on a rifle being held by a sniper aiming right at the shooter? So their test situation was not the same. And just because you couldn't accomplish something in three attempts doesn't mean it couldn't be done by a highly skilled person having fired thousands of shots.. The Russian scopes of that era had steel bodies, and would probably guide a bullet quite well. It all depends on the angle, if the objective lens is hit center and dead on, any military bullet will smash right through and out the occular; and will do it with today's scopes as well. Optical glass is not hardened glass, it is quite soft as far as glass goes. Cheers.

I am not sure which scope/s you have seen (don't suppose you remember the name...) but the couple I came across look more than durable to me and their optics aren't too shabby.

they had scope monted on rifle and they put the test dummy behind it, the dummy was hold in the rifle and scope was resting against its eye.

quite right i agree with u, however its best to see the footage of the myth busters doing the test.

used the dragnov sniper rifle with its scope.

That would most likely be a POSP then and similar to the one I saw. The other being a Pilad. Both of them are very rugged scopes.

Maybe I'm wrong but I think the Canadian-Afghanistan thing took place a year or two back (not months)...I remember that since I was discussing that with a bunch of friends.

Carlos was the most famous American Sniper since WW I . He was one of the fore fathers of the sniper schools that we have today and has trained many great students. Carlos was a hero in many ways, other than sniping. He saved men from a burning armored vehicle and got burned over 90 percent of his body in the process. Carlos will be missed very much. I will always remember him and pass his legacy on to my children and hopefully them to theirs. This is my tribute to one Great American Hero, among many!!!
