As Nagarifle points out:

The legal definition of "stay" is:
The act of temporarily stopping a judicial proceeding through the order of a court.
Without seeing the paperwork, maybe it would be premature to celebrate this?

Friends,
Can somebody tell me what was the 2002 High Court order? I am not sure whether to start celebrating or wait for the final judgement?
One more thing; today's dicision does not mention the next date of hearing at supreme court.
Let us all pray to God for a sensible judgement.

Though I could not find the original order here is a reference in the final order
The applicants herein, i.e. National Rifle Association (respondent no. 5, hereafter,
“NRA”) and Toy Air Gun, Air Rifle, Air Pistol & Pellets Manufacturers (W) Association
(respondent no. 6, hereafter “Manufacturers‟ Association”), claiming to be aggrieved by the
impugned judgment filed separate applications seeking leave to file impleadment application and
applications under Order I, Rule 10 of the C.P.C. seeking impleadment. They also filed
applications under section 151 of the Code seeking stay of the impugned judgment and separate
applications seeking clarification/modification of the impugned judgment.
The applications for stay under section 151 of the Code, being I.A. Nos. 11288/2002 (R5)
and 11288/2002 (R6) dated 08.10.2002 and 07.10.2002, respectively were allowed by order of
this Court, dated 01.11.2002.
The Court also allowed the respondents‟ applications for leave to
file an application for impleadment and impleadment application and the stay of the impugned
judgment was confirmed the same day, through its order dated 23.07.2003
Effectively what it means is that the order quashing the notification exempting air rifles/pistols has been stayed.Or in other words, the notification exempting air rifles/pistols stands till the Supreme Court decides the matter.

I am Mahesh Bhagnari.

My package is still stuck with Delhi customs and both FedEx and Jeena & Co want me to provide them with a copy of the judgement of Hon. Supreme Court before they proceed with getting my items cleared.

I have called Dushyant of FedEx as well as Azam of Jeena & Co a number of times but they are unaware of the developments, and it seems that the Custom authorities have not received any update.

Can somebody help me out?

What notice was issued to PFA as mentioned here in the Hindustan Times

http://www.hindustantimes.com/sports-ne ... 91289.aspx

A Bench headed by Justice P Sathasivam also issued a notice to the Maneka Gandhi-led NGO, People For Animals (PFA), on whose petition the HC order had come.

AND the Times of India here.....

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/spor ... 369140.cms

Thanks to the apex court's intervention, the marksmen can breathe easy, for the time being. The judges, Justices P Sathasivam and J Chelameswar, issued notice to PFA and posted the matter for further hearing.
